We are seeking an Environmental Project Manager to support a wide variety of energy and infrastructure environmental assessment and planning projects, particularly in the energy and transportation sectors. The ideal candidate must have strong work experience with environmental standards and regulations in relation to environmental assessments and permitting, be motivated and detail-oriented, with demonstrable experience in Canada. This mid-level career role is for office locations in Ontario, with a preferred location in the GTA, however we will consider other locations.

This role will be based in Toronto, Ontario. Occasional travel within Canada may be required.

Your role

  • Lead, coordinate and deliver all aspects related to environmental assessment and permitting activities, particularly for the transportation and energy sector, working as part of a wider delivery team.
  • Coordinate and guide efforts to obtain and comply with environmental approvals/permits for projects from regulatory agencies (municipal, provincial and federal).
  • Act as a project manager/coordinator responsible for the development and management of scope, budget, schedule, and effective quality oversight.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of consultation and engagement programs, including with First Nations and Indigenous communities.
  • Independently coordinate and manage external subcontractors.
  • Effectively delegate and coordinate tasks and activities with staff, providing technical and supervisory guidance to more junior staff on assigned tasks.
  • Assist with and, as necessary, take a lead role in the development of proposals, qualification documents and other business development related activities.
  • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies and ministries to ensure that projects are successfully delivered within timelines.
  • Support the growth of environmental planning / environmental assessment market share in strategic markets.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate professionals.

About you

  • Over 10 years of related experience managing and coordinating environmental assessments and securing construction permits/approvals for transportation and energy projects, within fast-paced engineering or environmental consulting environments.
  • Strong environmental project management expertise, including application of project management principles such as cost control, scope management, scheduling, and coordination of multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or related degree.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks, including the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process, with experience working with energy and/or transportation regulators considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage competing deadlines, and deliver projects effectively.
  • Professional designation or membership (full or provisional) in a relevant professional body is an asset (e.g., PMP, CAPM, RPP, EP).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $91,000- $125,100 annually) (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
