Lead Field Engineer - Structural

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer - Structural to support the supervision and inspection of structural construction works for a major development project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Field Engineer - Structural will be responsible for ensuring that all structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, quality requirements, and project schedules. Working closely with the Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will provide technical oversight, conduct site inspections, verify construction quality, and support the successful delivery of complex building and hospitality developments.

Your role

  • Supervise and monitor structural construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of structural works including foundations, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, precast elements, retaining walls, and temporary works.
  • Review structural drawings, shop drawings, and technical submissions for constructability and compliance with project requirements.
  • Verify that structural construction activities are performed in accordance with approved methodologies and engineering standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and progress against approved construction schedules.
  • Witness inspections, testing, and material quality assessments related to structural works.
  • Review and monitor reinforcement installation, concrete placement, structural steel erection, welding works, bolting activities, and associated testing procedures.
  • Ensure proper implementation of approved Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
  • Coordinate with civil, architectural, MEP, geotechnical, and specialist disciplines to resolve interface issues.
  • Review contractor method statements, risk assessments, and work procedures related to structural activities.
  • Verify compliance of construction materials with approved material submittals and project specifications.
  • Participate in the review and resolution of Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and site instructions.
  • Monitor site activities to identify technical issues, deficiencies, and potential construction risks.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, structural design standards, and authority requirements.
  • Prepare inspection reports, site observation reports, daily records, and progress updates.
  • Support verification of completed works for progress measurement and payment certification purposes.
  • Monitor structural integrity requirements during construction and ensure adherence to approved engineering designs.
  • Assist with snagging, de-snagging, testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
  • Report non-conformances and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements throughout construction operations.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of overall professional experience in structural engineering and construction supervision.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Structural Field Engineer, Structural Site Engineer, or Structural Inspector on major building projects.
  • Proven experience in large-scale buildings, convention centers, hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, commercial towers, or hospitality projects.
  • Experience within Site Supervision Consultancy, PMC, or Engineering Consultancy environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel, precast systems, post-tensioning, and foundation construction.
  • Familiarity with international structural design codes and standards such as ACI, AISC, BS, Eurocodes, and relevant local regulations.
  • Experience reviewing structural shop drawings, method statements, and technical submittals.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, temporary works, and structural stability requirements.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, structural testing requirements, and inspection processes.
  • Experience with concrete testing, steel testing, welding inspections, and non-destructive testing methods is desirable.
  • Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
  • Membership in a recognized professional engineering organization is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
