Overview

AtkinsRéalis one of the world's leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland.

We are looking for a Lead Hydromorphologist / Geomorphologist to join our team and work at the forefront of managing the challenges of maintaining, creating or restoring water courses to/in good ecological status, ensuring that their form and function is incorporated into and/or protected from new infrastructure development, as well as restored and recovered from previous interventions that may have physically degraded them. We are undertaking an increasing number and range of important and exciting projects that involve assessing the current state of water courses and designing and developing methods and proposals for their restoration, maintenance or creation, dependent on the type of project. We are working for a range of clients such as water companies, community groups and other government and private sector entities and authorities. Building on this success, we are growing our team, and this growth could include you. You could help us to win and deliver work across our extensive client portfolio and enhance our reputation for excellence.

As an already experienced, and ideally chartered, hydromorphologist, you will have led and delivered geomorphology or hydromorphology related project tasks in Ireland, the UK and/or internationally. You will work closely with our technical specialists who are based in our established teams across Ireland, both the Republic and in the North, and in the UK. We have a friendly and approachable team with a strong reputation for delivering excellence with multiple clients.

Your role

  • With a degree in science, engineering or mathematics and ideally a post-graduate qualification in hydromorphology or geomorphology, or a related subject.
  • You will have significant field and hands-on practical experience of hydromorphological assessment of river channels and water courses.
  • You will have demonstrable experience as a hydromorphologist within consultancy, water company, regulator or academic fields.
  • Your experience will include geomorphology and hydromorphology, for example work on natural flood management, nature restoration, channel creation, maintenance and management.
  • You will have a good understanding of Irish hydromorphology, in particular systems that form part of the arterial drainage maintenance programme common in Ireland, and of the operational and environmental regulatory framework of Irish water management.
  • You will have experience of leading project tasks and possibly entire projects through problem definition, data collection, analysis, interpretation and drawing succinct conclusions and recommendations.
  • You will be able to provide evidence that you can develop new and innovative approaches will be advantageous.
  • You will have excellent numerical, analytical, report-writing and presentational skills and an eye for detail.
  • You will be highly motivated and proactive and enjoy solving challenging water resources problems within a high achieving team environment.
  • You will be able to communicate effectively at all levels to support collaborative working and the building of high-quality client relationships.
  • You will have valid full, clean, Irish driving license.
