Job Title: Lead Secondary Engineer

Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom

We are looking to secure the services of an experienced Lead Secondary Engineer with a proven track record in substation engineering and project expertise relating to turnkey HV GIS/AIS substations. You will be part of Linxon Engineering Department and execute complex turnkey substation projects. In this role you provide the technical lead for the secondary discipline in coordination with the remote Linxon design team, the overall project lead engineer and and the project team.

You will ensure that technical tasks to the project related to secondary discipline are cost effectively executed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. You will collaborate during site activities with interface during construction, technical support to commissioning and start-up.

What will you do?

  • Technical lead of Linxon secondary engineering team allocated to the project.
  • Overall responsible for managing & leading all secondary engineering activities from project start till the As-Built stage with strict adherence to Project Specifications & Linxon standards including QA/QC, HSSE & Integrity.
  • Accountable for the submission on time and to quality of the secondary design packages in line with the overall project schedule and in coordination with all the internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor secondary engineering cost, report risk & change management activities.
  • Coordinate with Linxon engineering team (local & remote) of other disciplines for secondary related interfaces.
  • Technical lead, review and validation of the documentation, related to your discipline, issued by internal & external partners, sub-suppliers,
  • Completion of the relevant secondary sections of the general project documentation (i.e. Design Intent Document).
  • Ensuring all design changes are managed in accordance with the design change management process defined by the contract.
  • Attending Design Review meetings (DRMs) and Hazard review meetings (HRMs) as required by Linxon project team.
  • Participate in technical discussions with customer and suppliers, handle site queries and take necessary actions up to as-built documentation.
  • In case of tenders, prepare the RFQs, validate the technical content the offers provided by suppliers, provide your estimation of the budget for the resources to be allocated to secondary scope.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor or master's'in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in P&C substation engineering
  • Knowledge of the modern P&C technology.

Other Position-Specific Characteristics

  • Availability to travel 25 % of the time (domestic/international travel)
  • Flexibility in working in an office and on a construction site.

Competencies/ Skills Required:

  • Result orientated team player with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent in communication, to interact with external and internal parties at all levels in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Expert knowledge in Substation secondary design engineering, AC & DC system calculation, compilation of signal list, setting calculation, interface engineering and preparing cable schedules
  • Strong in MS Office, knowledge in MicroStation and AutoCAD is required.
  • Fluency in English – both written and spoken
