Overview
AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Materials Engineer to oversee material compliance, testing, approvals, and quality assurance activities for major high-rise residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and large-scale building developments in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will ensure that all construction materials meet project specifications, Saudi regulations, international standards, and quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Your role
- Review and approve material submittals, technical datasheets, manufacturers' certifications, and samples for compliance with project specifications.
- Monitor the quality and suitability of construction materials used in structural, architectural, façade, fit-out, infrastructure, and MEP works.
- Review and verify laboratory test reports, factory acceptance tests, and material certifications.
- Coordinate with approved testing laboratories and witness material testing activities.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), ASTM, ACI, BS, EN, and project-specific material standards.
- Conduct site inspections to verify proper storage, handling, and installation of approved materials.
- Monitor concrete mix designs, trial mixes, and concrete production activities.
- Review and assess material substitutions and value engineering proposals.
- Maintain material approval logs, testing registers, and quality documentation.
- Investigate material-related non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
- Support QA/QC teams in resolving material quality issues and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, consultants, and project teams regarding material approvals and testing requirements.
- Participate in technical review meetings, quality audits, and project inspections.
- Monitor compliance with sustainability requirements and approved green building materials.
- Prepare material engineering reports, technical recommendations, and status updates for project management.
- Support project handover activities by ensuring all testing records and material certifications are complete.
- Ensure timely approval of materials to support project construction schedules.
- Assist in developing project material specifications and quality standards.
- Identify risks related to material procurement, quality, and supply chain issues.

About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree in Materials Engineering or Construction Materials is preferred.
- Professional registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is preferred.
- Certification in Quality Management or Materials Testing is an advantage.
- Membership in recognized engineering institutions is desirable.
- 10 to 15 years of professional experience as a Materials Engineer.
- Minimum 5 years of experience on major high-rise and building construction projects.
- Previous Saudi Arabia or GCC experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working with consultants, PMCs, contractors, testing laboratories, and material suppliers.
- Demonstrated experience in material approvals, laboratory testing, quality assurance, and construction supervision.
- Experience with concrete mix design reviews, material durability assessments, and performance testing.
- Knowledge of façade materials, architectural finishes, waterproofing systems, and specialty building products.
- Ability to evaluate technical compliance and material suitability for complex building projects.
