Motorway Resident Engineer

Dublin, Dublin, Ireland

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join our established motorway asset renewal team, overseeing the delivery of maintenance and capital renewal projects across the Greater Dublin motorway network.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification, on programme, and in compliance with contract requirements. The role primarily involves the supervision of pavement renewal works, with additional involvement in drainage, ducting, structures, and associated motorway infrastructure projects. Due to operational requirements and traffic management constraints, the position involves predominantly night-time working.

Your role

  • Act as Resident Engineer on motorway renewal and maintenance projects.
  • Supervise contractors undertaking pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing works.
  • Oversee drainage, ducting, structures, and associated civil engineering works as required.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
  • Undertake inspections, audits, and quality assurance checks.
  • Review and maintain site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and inspection documentation.
  • Monitor programme delivery and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Liaise with contractors, client representatives, local authorities, emergency services, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend site meetings and contribute to project reporting.
  • Ensure traffic management measures are implemented and maintained in accordance with approved plans.
  • Assist with the administration of construction contracts and the assessment of contractor performance.
  • Support the wider project team in the successful delivery of motorway asset renewal programmes.
