Overview
The Network Operations Engineer position is a hands-on role to manage, monitor and support the network infrastructure and services. Working within the Network Operations Team you will provide support with resolving incidents, implementing customer requests, delivering on projects, proposing service improvements, and mentoring junior team members.
This role will suit an individual who has experience within a 2nd or 3rd line support environment and has proven experience in troubleshooting network related issues within a large organisation. While the candidate is expected to have a minimum of CCNP certification, it is equally important that candidate have a passion for networking. This position is responsible for managing Datacentre activities like commissioning, decommissioning of network devices, and need travel to Datacentre / Sites based on business requirements.
Your role
- Respond quickly and effectively to network issues, incidents, and outages.
- Resolve up to 3rd line network related incident support calls.
- Work on assigned incidents, change requests and project tasks.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Evaluate network change requests.
- Perform network devices maintenance and upgrade tasks.
- Use and configure network monitoring tools to identify and address issues before service degradation or an outage.
- Update technical documentation, network diagrams, processes, and procedures as needed.
- Comply with operational processes and SOPs put in place.
- Provide On-Call support on weekends based on On-Call shift roster.
- Keep abreast of developments in networking and network monitoring.
- Identifying opportunities for service improvement via automation or procedural change.
- Support DC task, Incidents, Firmware upgrade for Nexus, Catalyst switches.
- Network devices – rack, stack, commission, and decommission.
- Visit Datacentre to provide hands and eyes support based on business requirements.
- Coordinate with ISPs to resolve link outage incidents.
- Occasional travel User sites based on business requirements.

About you
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
- 8 years in relevant experience in supporting Network Infrastructure in a large organization.
- CCNA or CCNP certifications.
Hands-on experience on the following:
- Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching technologies
- Cisco ASR and ISR routing platforms
- BGP and OSPF
- Wireless LAN technologies
- Knowledge of network monitoring & reporting tools
Added advantage if you have hands-on experience on these:
- Extreme wireless platform.
- Velocloud SDWAN
- SolarWinds
- Thousand Eyes
- Cisco ISE
- Microsoft NPS
