Overview

As a Project Controls Manager within the Nuclear Decommissioning sector, you will be accountable for the leadership, integration, and assurance of all project controls disciplines across assigned projects and portfolios. This includes planning, cost management, risk, change control, and performance reporting, ensuring robust control environments that support safe, compliant, and predictable delivery within a nuclear decommissioning context.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, and client stakeholders to ensure controls information underpins decision‑making, supports contractual compliance (NEC), and provides confidence to both AtkinsRéalis and the client organisation.

In addition to technical leadership, you will lead and develop multi‑disciplinary project controls teams, promote consistency across the framework, and support continuous improvement of project controls processes and standards.

Your role

  • Lead and assure integrated project controls across planning, cost, risk, change, and performance reporting for the framework/projects.
  • Establish and maintain integrated baselines aligned with contractual scope, NEC requirements, and client milestones.
  • Oversee schedule development and assurance (Primavera P6 / MS Project), ensuring logic integrity, critical path confidence, and appropriate float management.
  • Lead cost control and forecasting, including ETC/EAC, variance analysis, and alignment with schedule and progress data.
  • Own and coordinate application and reporting processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant submissions supported by robust evidence.
  • Manage performance reporting and EVM, including CPI/SPI analysis, trends, and clear narrative commentary for senior stakeholders.
  • Integrate risk and opportunity management into forecasts and decision‑making, supporting QRA outputs where required.
  • Ensure compliance with framework governance, NEC contract obligations, and AtkinsRéalis project controls standards.
  • Line manage and develop project controls resources, including planners, cost engineers, and reporting staff, fostering capability and consistency across the framework.
  • Act as a senior interface with clients and stakeholders, clearly articulating project performance, risks, and mitigation actions in high‑scrutiny environments.
