Overview

Reporting to the Project Director – Standard Plant, the Project Manager is accountable for the delivery of program scopes assigned to the Global Technology Centre (GTC), located in India, with primary responsibility to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of work performed by GTC. Additional program scopes may also be assigned, as required, to support overall program objectives.

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of the assigned scopes across all project stages, while ensuring safety, quality, cost, schedule, project requirements, and stakeholder expectations are met.

The successful candidate's'home office will be based in Mississauga, Ontario, with some travel to the India GTC offices, up to 20% of the time, to support effective scope delivery, coordination, and team integration.

Your role

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of scopes executed by GTC, integrating design and engineering activities across multiple time zones, cultures, and disciplines.
  • Clearly define scope, deliverables, interfaces, schedules, and quality expectations for GTC-executed work.
  • Act as the primary point of accountability for GTC scope execution, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives and milestones.
  • Focus on delivering value to key stakeholders and building effective processes for long term collaboration.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain collaborative working relationships.
  • Establish and maintain schedule and cost baselines for assigned scopes, including progress measurement, variance analysis, and re‑baselining as required.
  • Own and manage scope, schedule, and cost changes for assigned scopes, ensuring changes are assessed, documented, approved, and communicated in accordance with program change control processes.
  • Maintain visibility of demand versus capacity for GTC‑executed work, coordinating with GTC leadership to support effective resource planning and delivery alignment.
  • Manage budgets related to assigned scopes, ensuring cost-effective delivery.
  • Drive a culture of disciplined execution, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Establish and maintain structured communication channels, progress tracking, and interface management processes between the home office and GTC teams.
  • Monitor and report execution progress, identify risks and issues early, and drive timely resolution, including effective escalation when required.
  • Ensure continuity of work execution, information flow, and decision-making between home office and GTC teams.
  • Develop and implement workshare strategies, optimizing allocation of work to GTC for cost and schedule efficiency.
  • Negotiate effort and schedule agreements, ensuring terms and conditions are favorable and compliant.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with GTC and other assigned scopes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and take action to capitalize on them.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with quality assurance requirements, applicable regulations, client expectations, and project-specific procedures.

About you

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a science-based discipline, and/or a professional Project or Program Management qualification.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing multi-disciplinary projects in a complex engineering or technical environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of contract management experience.
  • Proven experience managing and developing project team members, including setting expectations, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and supporting professional growth.
  • Experience managing schedule and cost baselines, including change control, impact assessment, and re‑baselining as required.
  • Experience implementing structured communication channels, progress tracking, and interface management with remote global teams.
  • Experience developing workshare strategies and optimizing work allocation to achieve cost and schedule efficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and leading technical teams to high performance in a project-centric environment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate design and engineering activities across geographically distributed, multi-disciplinary, and multicultural teams, including Global Engineering Centres.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly define scope, deliverables, interfaces, and quality expectations for GTC-executed work.
  • Demonstrated capability to resolve issues promptly, escalate effectively, and maintain continuity between home office and GTC teams.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes, with the ability to ensure deliverables comply with regulatory, client, and project-specific requirements.
  • Accountable for the fiscal performance of assigned scopes and budgets, including identifying creative solutions to reduce cost while maintaining quality and schedule.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate issues, impacts, and resolution strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and dispute-resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
