Resident Engineer - Madinah

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to lead the construction supervision and delivery of major high-rise, mixed-use, hospitality, residential, commercial, and building infrastructure projects in Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Resident Engineer will be responsible for managing all site supervision activities, ensuring construction works are executed in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, Saudi regulations, quality standards, HSE requirements, and project schedules.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to multidisciplinary site teams, coordinate with clients, contractors, authorities, and stakeholders, and ensure successful project delivery from construction through testing, commissioning, and handover.

Your role

  • Lead and manage day-to-day construction supervision activities for high-rise buildings, mixed-use developments, hospitality projects, and large-scale building developments.
  • Ensure construction works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, Saudi Building Code, and local authority regulations.
  • Manage multidisciplinary site supervision teams, including Civil, Structural, Architectural, MEP Engineers, Inspectors, and HSE personnel.
  • Monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with approved project schedules and key milestones.
  • Coordinate with clients, project managers, contractors, consultants, utility providers, and local authorities to facilitate project execution and approvals.
  • Ensure implementation of quality assurance and quality control procedures throughout all construction activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and contractual requirements.
  • Review and resolve technical design and construction issues, providing practical engineering solutions and recommendations.
  • Lead progress meetings and coordinate with contractors to address delays, technical challenges, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Review contractor claims, variation orders, extension of time requests, and payment applications.
  • Monitor testing, commissioning, snagging, and project close-out activities.
  • Ensure all project documentation, records, reports, and correspondence are properly maintained and submitted.
  • Support the management of project risks, commercial issues, and stakeholder concerns.
  • Participate in authority inspections and facilitate project approvals and occupancy certifications.
  • Ensure effective coordination between architectural, structural, façade, fit-out, and MEP disciplines throughout construction.
  • Report project progress, risks, quality issues, and key performance indicators to senior management and clients.
  • Lead project handover activities and ensure successful completion of all contractual obligations.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer registration or recognized chartership is preferred.
  • PMP Certification or equivalent project management qualification is an advantage.
  • Membership in a recognized professional engineering institution is desirable.
  • Minimum 15 to 20 years of professional experience in construction supervision and project delivery.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as Resident Engineer or Senior Construction Supervision Engineer on major building projects.
  • Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC countries is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects throughout the full lifecycle, from design coordination and construction through commissioning and handover.
  • Experience working with international consultants, contractors, project management consultants (PMC), and government stakeholders.
