Overview
We are seeking a Senior Transportation Planner or Senior Engineer to join our team in Denver, CO.
The successful candidate will lead technical elements of transportation planning studies and provide expertise in corridor studies, traffic operations and microsimulation modeling, safety studies and analysis, and active transportation planning. This individual must bring strong technical and planning expertise to guide the analytical components of corridor studies, interpret findings within a broader multimodal and policy context, and clearly communicate results to clients and stakeholders. They will lead the development of technical reports, integrate feedback into planning recommendations, and coordinate closely with internal project teams and junior staff. The role may also involve supporting or leading a range of transportation planning efforts including multimodal needs assessments, safety studies, and grant applications, as well as contributing to project management, proposal development, and business development activities. Familiarity with NEPA processes and traffic modeling is strongly preferred.
Your role
- Acts as technical lead on transportation planning projects directing junior staff.
- Provides guidance and oversight to multi-disciplinary teams, including providing guidance on technical analysis, report documentation, alternatives analysis, and modeling efforts.
- Serves as project manager or deputy project manager on transportation planning projects.
- Assists with analysis and preparation of reports, such as feasibility and corridor studies, traffic impact analyses, multi-modal projects, and safety projects.
- Provides quality control reviews for work performed by others.
- Coordinates with clients and leads client meetings.
- Writes project proposal components, develops scopes of work, and compiles fee estimates.
- Supports business development efforts by meeting with current and potential clients.

About you
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, or related field.
- Experience with traffic modeling software such as TransModeler, Vissim, Synchro, and/or IHSDM is strongly preferred.
- Have a Professional Registration in your field of practice, e.g., P.E. or AICP, with a preferred certification of PTOE and/or RSP.
- Demonstrate a proven track record in applying a range of relevant analytical techniques to meet varying client / project requirements on a diverse range of projects.
- Display strong technical writing and verbal communications skills.
- Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Be willing to mentor and guide junior staff.
- Be dynamic and passionate about the transportation planning field.
- Have good organizational, communication, time, and budget management skills.
- Manage and work on various projects of various sizes concurrently.

Additional information
Expected compensation range is between $90,000 - $130,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
