Systems Engineering Manager

Calgary, Alberta, Canada | Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Overview

The Systems Engineering Manager is a key leadership role within the Calgary Delivery Partner team for the Calgary Green Line SE Segment project. This position is responsible for leading the project systems engineering team executing critical Systems Engineering work including Systems Integration, Requirements Management, Configuration Management and Validation & Verification.

Your role

Technical & Project Oversight:

  • Lead systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle: concept, design, integration, testing, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Oversee requirements, interface and configuration management, ensuring traceability and evidence-based compliance throughout the lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies to improve system efficiency, performance, and competitiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 15288, CENELEC EN 50126/50128/50129, and other relevant standards and regulations.
  • Manage system integration across subsystems (e.g., signaling, rolling stock, telecom, power) to ensure harmonious operation.
  • Identify and mitigate system-level risks through structured risk management plans.

About you

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering on major rail/transit, infrastructure, or complex systems projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related discipline). Master's degree in Systems Engineering or Engineering Management considered an asset.
  • P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration.
  • Experience with systems integration of signaling, communications, traction power, SCADA, station systems, and rolling stock.
  • Strong command of V&V, requirements management, and interface/integration management. Strong command of tools, and methodologies (e.g., MBSE, DOORS NG, SysML).
