Mental health matters: Exploring how AtkinsRéalis prioritizes mental health for its employees

The World Health Organization estimated that 15% of working-age adults have a mental disorder at any point in time.

With the rise of mental health issues in the workforce, we understand the pivotal role that mental wellbeing plays in the professional and personal lives of our employees.

This is why we are committed to creating a healthy workforce and an environment where our employees can thrive.

Join us as we unveil the initiatives, resources, and values that underline our dedication to making mental health a significant focus at AtkinsRéalis.

Initiatives and resources to support the mental health and wellbeing of our employees

We have established a comprehensive range of proactive initiatives dedicated to promoting health and preventing illness within our workforce. These initiatives are strategically aligned with our five pillars of wellbeing: Emotional, Physical, Social, Financial, and Workplace wellbeing.

We aim to cultivate an environment where employees are empowered to make positive choices for their health, ensuring a holistic approach to their overall wellbeing.

Here are some of the initiatives and resources that reflect our commitment to a holistic and human-centric approach to mental health support for all AtkinsRéalis employees:

1. The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

In our dynamic work environment, we understand that life's challenges can impact wellbeing.

Our robust EAP ensures confidential help is available 24/7, demonstrating our dedication to supporting our team members through any work, health, or life matters. You can be confident that we will prioritize your holistic wellbeing from the moment you join our team.

2. Wellbeing hub

Through ourWellbeing Hub, we provide a wealth of resources to empower our workforce with the knowledge and skills necessary to prioritise their health.

The Wellbeing Hub is a centralised repository of resources, offering interactive tools, expert articles, and a supportive community forum. This digital ecosystem fosters a culture of wellbeing, encouraging employees to engage actively in their health journey.

3. Comprehensive health services

In today's fast-paced world, quick access to healthcare is crucial.

Our commitment to digital GP appointments, providing free and confidential consultations within 24 hours, emphasizes our dedication to the health and wellbeing of our employees.

All employees will also have access to these services:

  • Mental health consultations - support for various issues, from workplace stress to money worries, significant life changes, and bereavement.
  • Mental health first aiders - specially trained employees providing first aid for those experiencing mental health issues, crises, or emotional distress.
  • Access to a nutritionist for a health check as well as blood tests.

This initiative ensures anyone joining AtkinsRéalis can enjoy the convenience of immediate medical consultations.

4. Mindfulness at work community

At AtkinsRéalis, we go beyond corporate benefits by fostering a Mindfulness at Work community of over 800 individuals.

This is a supportive community where experiences and resources on mindfulness and general wellbeing are shared. The community also organizes live mindfulness sessions which are attended by our colleagues from around the world.

Becoming a part of AtkinsRéalis means joining a workplace where genuine connections and wellbeing are at the forefront of our culture.

How do we encourage work-life balance and reduce stress among our employees?

At AtkinsRéalis, we understand that finding the ideal work-life balance is vital for everyone.

In fact, our 2023 VOX Employee Engagement Survey found that 96% of employees feel trusted by managers to manage their work, regardless of where they do it.

Another initiative that supports us in prioritizing the wellbeing of our employees is the Wellbeing UKE Workplace Pressure and Stress Risk Assessment. This assessment, undertaken in collaboration between employees and their managers during, or in preparation for, challenging periods such as planning phases, major changes, upheavals, significant pressure, or periods of poor health, embodies our corporate approach to holistic employee support.

By engaging in this assessment, we aim to foster an environment where employees feel heard, supported, and empowered to navigate challenges effectively, ensuring their wellbeing remains at the forefront of our corporate culture.

Be part of a culture that cares at AtkinsRéalis

From comprehensive Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) to tailored 1:1 mental health support and a vibrant Mindfulness at Work community, we recognize the multifaceted aspects of mental health and strive to provide a supportive environment for our team members.

By prioritizing mental health, we not only enhance the professional experience but also affirm our dedication to creating a workplace where individuals can thrive both personally and professionally.
