Want a future of fire opportunities?

Hello, my name is Dilini! Two years ago, after completing my doctorate in structural fire engineering, I began practicing in the UK fire engineering industry. I'm proud to have contributed to numerous exciting studies during my research career, including six Q1 and Q2 journal publications as the lead author.

In my role, I apply my research and academic skills alongside industry best practices and those ever-evolving fire safety regulations to engineer safer built environments. I've delivered fire engineering solutions for various projects, including residential buildings, offices, university buildings, technology centers, public buildings, schools, hospitals, healthcare facilities, custodial facilities, energy storage systems, and transport facilities. I also provide structural fire engineering solutions for unique projects like the Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project.

I'm genuinely pleased to have joined AtkinsRéalis' fire engineering team, where I have expanded my boundaries and effectively applied my structural fire engineering analytical skills to deliver work that makes an impact.

We're all about teamwork and flexibility

AtkinsRéalis' fire engineering team has an amazing work culture. We pull together on projects as teams. Everyone is encouraged to reach out to peers and senior members to develop more effective solutions in our daily tasks. We enjoy frequent team days at the office, and you can expect all the benefits and perks of working for a top consultancy. Additionally, AtkinsRéalis offers maximum flexibility to suit your lifestyle and enhanced benefits.

With the wide range of projects we deliver, you can be sure you'll work on projects that match your fire engineering expertise and broaden your experience.

Still part of the team while on secondment

My secondment at Rolls-Royce SMR is an exciting experience where I can apply my research and analytical skills to a very innovative project. Even though most of my time is dedicated to the secondment, I still stay involved with general fire engineering work alongside my colleagues at AtkinsRéalis, maintaining a balanced workload throughout the week. During the secondment, as I did before, I attend team days and have regular catch-ups with my line manager and peers, which keeps me connected to the team.

Look out for exciting opportunities ahead

The AtkinsRéalis fire engineering team needs to grow to deliver even better fire engineering solutions across more projects. As we expand, we can bring in more expertise and broaden the scope of our work. We've already started working in the structural fire engineering stream, which has great potential in the UK industry. We aim to take on more exciting projects in this area, which means greater opportunities for us to progress our careers. And fantastic opportunities to join our team!

Committed to engineering better

AtkinsRéalis is made up of highly skilled engineering professionals across all fields and maintains a strong work culture with high standards of quality assurance. Employees can access continuous career development, training, and the necessary resources to ensure our professionals always follow industry best practices, adhere to up-to-date legislation, and conduct their duties ethically. Most importantly, we embed sustainability, health, and safety into every project delivery. At AtkinsRéalis, we're fully committed to engineering a better future for our planet and its people.

Collaborating every day to #MakeItBrilliant

Through my secondment and other specialist projects, I've had the chance to collaborate with the wider AtkinsRéalis multi-disciplinary team, the Rolls-Royce SMR team, and professionals from other businesses, broadening my network and enabling more specialized, collaborative project deliveries.

I truly admire the teamwork culture within AtkinsRéalis fire engineering. We always deliver as one team, allowing us to collaboratively provide more resilient and technically sound solutions. Additionally, the resources and tools at my disposal have made it easier to produce high-quality work, meet productivity targets, and manage time and costs effectively.

As a fire engineering professional, I'm proud to contribute to a better future. It's how I #MakeItBrilliant in my career at AtkinsRéalis.
