This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team:

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Shipper/ Receiver is responsible to:

  • Perform general Shipping & Receiving tasks.
  • Loading and unloading of trucks using appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Receive and coordinate the receipt of all incoming goods and materials from suppliers, check material code identifications, and store incoming material equipment and supplies in appropriate storage areas as per requirements.
  • Complete and maintain and update daily shipping and material receiving report logs in company proprietary material management /Oracle database systems for timely production of material receiving reports for information to internal end users within the company.
  • Ensure non-conforming goods are documented, quarantined, and dispositioned.
  • Ensure all incoming goods to be received are valid Purchase order/ deliverables and have supplier/vendor supporting documentation checked and received in company material management inventory receiving systems promptly.
  • Ensure all project goods and materials under Shipping & Receiving control are handled and stored properly as per company guidelines.
  • Use and operate material handling equipment safely including operation of Forklifts, tow motors, overhead 5T/10T/20T capacity cranes, Versa lifts as per Occupational Health and Safety program guidelines & Candu energy Health, Safety Environment (HSE) requirements.
  • Provide weekly update of databases and review activities, backlog status for receiving for the week timely to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate material receiving and issuing of materials to end users.
  • Ensure the handling/storage of stainless-steel goods, ferrous materials are stored inside appropriate storage locations as per applicable storage Level per ASME NQA1 sub part 2.2 Quality assurance requirements for nuclear facility applications.
  • Ensure that any large, oversize items to be received are coordinated with Facilities personnel/third party offsite storage facilities and handled using approved rigging and safe work practices.
  • Ensure any Dangerous Goods received are handled correctly as per Transport of Dangerous Goods Canada regulations and have all applicable WHIMS label, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) enclosed with the shipment.
  • Pack, seal, and label materials to prepare for shipping as per domestic/international packaging and shipping requirements mandated on client purchase orders.
  • Arrange for pickup, delivery of shipment materials, equipment, or supplies to domestic clients and vendors always using established routing guides, approved carriers and modes of transport.
  • Maintain “Routing Guides” to ensure the optimal choice of carrier to be used, considering the service level required and cost factors for different services available.
  • Provide cost estimates on request to internal end users, for movement of goods to domestic vendors-clients utilities based upon use of appropriate carrier equipment as per SNC Lavalin preferred carrier lists.
  • Always adhere to shipping/receiving policies and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and or standards.
  • Complete incident reports and notifications to HSE staff immediately which may impact health and safety issues or material spills at Sheridan Park site.

The ideal candidate:

  • Graduation from High school, Technical Institute or equivalent combination of education and Experience in a Manufacturing, Engineering, logistics warehousing industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficient in safe operation and handling of warehousing, material handling equipment such as Forklifts, Indoor hoists, Overhead cranes and loading/offloading material from flatbed trailers, Dry Van trailers, Ocean containers, loose oversize machinery and tooling equipment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software programs.
  • Good communication skills, ability to multitask and physically capable of performing demands of work as assigned.
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in Materials management, Shipping & Receiving functions in a Manufacturing /Warehousing /Logistics industry.
  • Trained and familiar with WHIMS, Dangerous Goods Regulations mainly Class 7 goods (Transport Canada Clear TDG regulations,) and requirements and certifications.
  • Should be current on Counterbalance Forklift License and certification.
  • Current Transport Canada -Transport of Dangerous Goods regulations (Ground) / WHIMS and First Aid Certified qualifications would be an asset.
