Nuclear enrichment

Located: Warrington

Warrington is within reaching distance of cities like Manchester, Chester and Liverpool, but is also close to the coast and also the countryside, so offers a good cross-section of opportunities depending on your personal preferences.

Nuclear design

Located; South Yorkshire

The Design office is based close to J33 of the M1, on the edge of Whiston by open countryside close to Ulley Reservoir, overlooking the valley into Sheffield.
With currently 60 staff, the Design team provides mechanical engineering design services from concept through to detail design for manufacture and commissioning to the Energy and Infrastructure market, with a focus on plant and equipment for Nuclear engineering. Key areas of applications experience include mechanical handling (e.g. cranes) and structures which move (e.g. moving bridges, lock gates etc), together with lifting and processing equipment operating in challenging, safety critical environments. The team works in support of the Nuclear business strategy, focussing on key clients in Civil Nuclear, principally in Enrichment and Decommissioning and for Defence in Submarines.

Decommissioning North

Located: Whitehaven

Whitehaven is situated in the West of Cumbria, 20 minutes from the beautiful lakes, in view of the mountains and right on the coast. It was voted in the UKs Top 20 Coastal locations. If beautiful views and outdoor pursuits are your passion, then Whitehaven is certainly a location worth considering.

Rutherford House located on the West Lakes Business Park in Whitehaven houses an 80 strong security cleared team of engineers and project managers engaged on nuclear assignments. Recently the team have honed their expertise in design, delivery and construction support on the Site Security Architecture Upgrade (SSAU) and Sellafield Security Enhancement Programme (SSEP) and are in a strong position to support Sellafield moving forward.

Nuclear new build - Epsom

Epsom is a suburban market town in the borough of Epsom and Ewell in Surrey, with beautiful parks and a race course in close proximity, it also offers direct rail links into London for those who like the balance of suburban living with City access.

Nuclear new build - Bristol

Location: Bristol (with Fire Protection and Safety / Licensing in Warrington)

The Bristol New Build team works with a portfolio of clients in the Civil Nuclear Industry focusing on the Nuclear Power Stations of the future.

Based in the vibrant, multicultural city of Bristol, named one of the best cities in the country in which to live. Easy access to main client delivery locations. Decommissioning South

Location: Bristol

The Decommissioning South business is located in the Atkins Bristol ‘Hub’ Office, strategically positioned to service clients along the Severn Estuary and in the South of the Country. The team is multidisciplinary including (but not limited to) Mechanical, Civil, EC&I and Process Engineers, along with Environmental Specialists and Scientists.

Our team delivers projects and work based on a ‘We do exactly what is says on the tin’ approach – Decommissioning. This is predominantly servicing the end of life requirements associated with 1st Generation Magnox Reactors and Advanced Gas Cooled Reactors on our clients sites, supplemented with other work from AWE, RWM and occasionally Sellafield. Projects usually involve characterisation, retrievals, processing, packaging and storage of Nuclear Wastes and include design, assessment and support to our clients to deliver their workload.

Our location is ideal, not only for clients, but for individuals who want the balance of having a fantastic city on their doorstep and the countryside nearby. Bristol is a vibrant and liberal city having been voted Best City to live 2014. It is also close to the UK’s first proposed New Build Nuclear Power Station.

Nuclear generation

Location: Bristol, with a small team in Glasgow

The Nuclear Generation business is located in Bristol ‘The Hub’ Office. It is strategically located to provide services to our clients in the South of the country but with a small team based in Scotland.

The work we do

Our team delivers projects and work to the operating nuclear power station across the UK. We predominantly support EDF Energy on a wide range of projects. Our work goes from complex multi discipline design projects to technical support and project management. Our projects include the assessment and design projects for a variety of systems, structures and components in the operating power stations. To mention some services, we support safety case development, develop technical requirements for plant modifications, support Periodic Safety Reports, and design innovative technical solutions to improve the nuclear safety.
Our goal is to establish ourselves as the most influential partner to EDF Energy in the continuous goal to increase the safe operation of their stations.

We also support other divisions providing services for construction and licensing projects for New Build and Decommissioning.
