What if your Degree Apprenticeship let you launch life-changing wellbeing projects?

Hiya, I'm Matilda from the Aerospace, Defence, Safety & Technology (ADS&T) team in the Bristol office. I'm an undergraduate project manager on the Project Management Degree Apprenticeship scheme. In my role, I support business change. I am a Project Management Office (PMO) consultant for our team's defence market.

What has been your favorite experience?

When I project-managed the whole lifecycle of the new Wellbeing Dog Service as part of the Apprentice Challenge. It was so successful that it's now an internal AtkinsRéalis initiative. I'm still a part of it, and we have successfully offered it externally to clients.

What is the best thing about working for AtkinsRéalis?

I have so many wonderful opportunities here, and not just brilliant projects. I went on the Apprentice & Graduate Ski Trip in Val Thorens in March 2024. AtkinsRéalis has a great social life and highly encouraged us early careers professionals to meet and network through events like the skiing and surfing trips and our monthly socials.

What is your top tip for new graduates?

Take every opportunity to build your experience. Stay curious and network with as many people as you can (on LinkedIn, too!).

How has your role as a degree apprentice at AtkinsRéalis helped you grow?

My role as a degree apprentice has helped me grow significantly. Balancing my university work with my job has aided my time management skills. It has also allowed me to actively apply my university knowledge to the workplace.

How has the environment at AtkinsRéalis affected your apprenticeship experience?

The environment at AtkinsRéalis has affected my apprenticeship experience due to its highly supportive nature. I have a coach and a mentor in the business who help me with any challenges I face. There are endless ED&I groups that promote inclusion across the organization. We also have fantastic opportunities where seniors are always willing to help support your career path. For example, one of my eventual goals is to relocate abroad to another AtkinsRéalis office, which is possible!
