Flexible working careers in India: Why AtkinsRéalis is a top choice for engineering graduates

Discover how Sarang, an engineer in India, balances his career and love for cooking.

An engineering consultancy with career development support in India

My journey at AtkinsRéalis

Hi, I'm Sarang, a graduate engineer at AtkinsRealis. I've been there for two years, and I've been supported in doing my professional best while continuing to explore my biggest passion outside of work—food.

When I say cooking is my passion, it feels like a second calling. My culinary journey has been self-taught, nurtured by the guidance of my mother and aunt. To deepen my love for cooking, I immersed myself fully in its world, refining my skills and exploring new techniques. I'm proud to say it led me to participate in India's top-level cooking competition.

From sharing invaluable tips and tricks to providing constructive feedback, each teammate has played a crucial role in helping me grow professionally and personally.

My teammates are a great source of inspiration when it comes to food. They try my dishes and offer valuable insight, motivating me to think more creatively about my cooking.

Lessons from my passion that boost my career at AtkinsRéalis

My passion for cooking brings valuable lessons to the workplace, like creativity and innovation. Embracing an experimental mindset can lead to breakthroughs and improvements in processes and products. Attention to detail and patience are crucial in cooking—from measuring ingredients to controlling cooking times, each step impacts the final result.

Similarly, being precise and patient during complex projects in the workplace leads to higher-quality outcomes. Time management and organization are also essential—cooking teaches you to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
