Job Title: Construction Manager

Linxon is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead and oversee all construction activities across sites in England and Scotland. In this pivotal position, you will ensure that every project is delivered safely, on time, and strictly in accordance with National Grid specifications and UK industry standards. Your work will directly contribute to Linxon's mission of shaping energy solutions for sustainable connectivity.
What will you do?
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the civil engineering and construction operations for substation projects, from tendering through to handover to clients or the service department.
- Ensure all works are executed in full compliance with National Grid guidelines, specifications, and safety protocols.
- Liaise with designers, contractors and site teams to resolve technical queries, address remedial works, and close out snags efficiently.
- Support CDM and Temporary Works Coordinators, ensuring duties are enacted as required under UK regulations.
- Monitor and report on project progress, costs, budgets, and timelines to guarantee maximum value for Linxon and our clients.
- Select and manage key personnel and subcontractors, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
- Drive cost-effective solutions and contribute to the development and implementation of client design guidance, standards, and specifications.
- Negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Experience & Skills
- Extensive experience managing construction projects within the UK, ideally on large-scale multi-million pound works for major utilities.
- Strong knowledge of the UK building market, National Grid processes, standards, and regulations.
- Proven ability to check and comment on technical documentation in line with project requirements.
- Experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) under National Grid's NG/ET/SR188 procedure is an advantage.
- Excellent negotiation, dispute resolution, and communication skills.
- Chartered Engineer status (IET) or working towards this qualification preferred.
Education & Training
- Bachelor'S or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Membership of a recognised professional institution.
