Overview
We are seeking a Senior Engineer with strong experience in flood risk management and river engineering to support the delivery of strategic studies, business cases, outline and detailed design, and construction‑stage support across a diverse portfolio of flood alleviation, river restoration, drainage and resilience schemes.
This role is suited to an engineer ready to take technical ownership of projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and engage confidently with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.

Your role
- Lead and contribute to flood risk management projects from feasibility and business case development through to detailed design and delivery.
- Undertake and coordinate options appraisal, technical feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
- Act as technical lead or deputy project manager on flood alleviation schemes, river engineering and drainage projects.
- Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams including hydraulics, structures, geotechnics, ecology, planning and GIS.
- Support preparation of Outline and Full Business Cases, Project Appraisal Reports and funding submissions.
- Manage and support stakeholder engagement, including local authorities, regulators, landowners and communities.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers and graduates.
- Contribute to bid writing, technical inputs and proposal development where required.

Typical project experience
- Catchment‑scale and site‑specific flood risk studies.
- Flood alleviation schemes for rivers and urban environments.
- River restoration, fish passage and environmental improvement works.
- Drainage and pumping station schemes.
- Business cases and appraisal reports for public‑sector clients.
- Schemes delivered for Environment Agency, local authorities, water companies and IDBs.
Qualifications & professional requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).
- Working towards or holding professional chartership (e.g. ICE, CIWEM).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working within UK / Ireland flood risk and water environment frameworks.
