Overview
We are seeking a qualified Senior Transport Planner with between 12 to 15 years' experience to join our Transport Planning and Strategic Advisory Business Unit in the Middle East. The candidate must be a degree-qualified professional with a minimum of 12 to 15 years of transport planning, traffic engineering experience in the Middle East.
Your role
- This role requires contributing to a variety of transport planning studies including large scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies or multi-disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors.
- Independently lead TIS in Abu Dhabi, including liaison and coordination with ITC as part of the TIS process.
- Understanding of transport planning, traffic engineering and travel demand theory.
- Project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local transport planning standards and practices.
- Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access and citywide mobility plans.
- Experience of traffic engineering, transport planning of large development projects.
- Lead the preparation of reports as per ITC requirements.
- Review and lead the traffic analysis and TIS process.
- Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and spoken.
- Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
- Some experience project/financial management.
- Competence to assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business as well as to sell Atkins services generally.
- Experience in transport modelling (STEAM), traffic engineering and transport planning projects across UAE.
- Experience in traffic engineering, transport planning and engineering projects across UAE.
- Must have experience with ITC TMP & TIS projects.
- Competence with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Understanding of various authority guidelines and manuals in UAE.
- Experience with traffic engineering software (SYNCHRO / SIDRA / HCS).
- Can work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong communication and personal skills.

About you
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent is a must.
- Minimum 12 to 15 years of experience in traffic engineering and transport planning.
- Experience with Abu Dhabi Master Plan Projects.
- Knowledge of ITC Guidelines.
- Has worked within a team.
- Master's degree in transport planning or equivalent field is desirable.
- A highly developed interpersonal skills, such as high competency in listening and communicating.
- A positive attitude that focuses on always improving teamwork and co-operation.
- Good communication skills, oral and written, including presentation competency.
- Ability to work without excessive supervision.
- Ability for self-checking & correction of work.
- A team player.
