Overview

This role is for a Senior Structural Engineer within the Building Structures Practice of Global Technology Center, primarily facing Canada region. The engineer will assist with the development, coordination, and quality assurance of structural designs across concept, preliminary, and detailed design stages, ensuring compliance with building codes, standards, and project-specific requirements by working closely with our colleagues in Canada. The role involves close coordination with architectural, MEP and other relevant teams, participation in design review and assurance processes, and contribution to the delivery of safe, durable, constructible, and technically sound building structures across a variety of building types and project environments.

Your role

  • Perform tasks assigned independently with minimum guidance from the seniors in the discipline.
  • Develop detailed designs from the schematic designs under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Able to develop details/sketches and provide details to CAD technicians.
  • Shall ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned tasks within the discipline.
  • Managing one's'own time and time of others reporting to them.
  • Responsible for compliance with company's QA/QC procedures and implementation of procedures.Keep abreast of latest trends and technologies.
  • Competent to check the work of graduates, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Conversant with Financial Systems.
  • Developing relationships with colleagues outside of the business area.
  • Successful in identifying and following through on leads/suggestions associated with additional work prospects on the projects they are involved with.
  • Able to apply Safe by Design principles and CDM legislations to projects
  • Contributes to and researches the development of existing and new areas of technology/capabilities to inform business strategy.
  • An understanding of management processes related to technical integration and associated analytical / investigative approaches.
  • Responsible for compliance with company's QA/QC procedures and implementation of procedures.

About you

  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering. Bachelor's Degree will also be considered if the candidate is competent and able to demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Experience of 7+ years working in Design office
  • Competent in first principles, structural analysis (BMD, SFD & deflections), load paths.
  • Competent in design of Concrete and Steel structures.
  • Working knowledge of international standards like ACI, AISC, Eurocodes is preferred.
  • Experienced in providing analytical solutions using the structural design software's (Viz. STAAD, ETABS, SAFE etc).
  • Good communication and presentation skills. Able to present the design options to the project leads and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to make decisions, act on your own initiative
  • Chartered or near chartered with institutions like ICE or IStructE will be preferred, but not essential.
  • Experience of working with, and managing, small sized focused technical teams will be an added advantage.
