Overview

The BIM Designer/Lead Designer role at AtkinsRéalis GDC Transportation focuses on delivering advanced BIM and CAD designs for major global tunneling and underground infrastructure projects. Based in Gurgaon, the position involves creating and managing 3D models, producing detailed 2D drawings, coordinating multidisciplinary BIM workflows, and ensuring compliance with AtkinsRéalis standards and international BIM practices. The role requires strong modelling expertise, understanding of BIM standards, experience with tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, Dynamo, MicroStation, Navisworks, Opentunnels, ProjectWise/ACC, and the ability to collaborate within large global engineering teams. It offers excellent growth opportunities within a world-leading infrastructure consultancy.

Your role

  • Should be able to develop CAD/BIM 3D Models / shop & fabrication drawings to the standards & codes
  • Should be able to produce medium to complex 3D modelling for tunneling and underground structures.
  • Should be able to work in tunnel & underground engineering environment like TBM Tunnels (ring build logic & detailing), space proofing, NATM / SEM / Drill & Blast Tunnels, Cut & Cover Tunnels, Shafts and Portals.
  • Competent in producing GA and RC detailing drawings for tunneling and underground structures i.e. Primary & secondary lining, segmental lining, shotcrete, rock bolts, steel ribs, wire mesh, lattice girders etc.
  • Work with the Information Manager and project teams to assist in the development and implementation of BIM strategies, BIM Execution Plans, workflows and processes on projects in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Corporate Standards, Client requirements and industry best practice.
  • Should be able to produce 3D models and extract information directly from models to create 2D drawings, schedules, setting out, quantities and other deliverables.
  • Should be able to work on survey and geotechnical data integration, i.e.. control points, Geological profiles and borehole data, Geological cross and Longitudinal sections and excavation sequences.
  • Should be able to develop models and technical content including clash detection and compliance with BEP.
  • Should be able to follow OCRA process in EDMS workflow
  • Should have strong written & verbal communication in English
  • Experience of working in Common Data Environment (CDE) like ProjectWise / ACC
  • Apply AtkinsRéalis Quality, Safety & Environmental (QSE) standards and Business Management System (BMS).

Skills

  • Should be responsible for creating and maintaining symbol libraries, templates, and databases, configuring project settings, and troubleshooting software issues to enable seamless collaboration. Additionally, you will lead automation initiatives, integrate engineering design data with other platforms, and support digital delivery strategies for smarter, connected solutions. The candidate will also actively support project teams on proposal and project delivery tasks.
  • Ideal candidates should have a Diploma/B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering, with 5–12 years' experience delivering multidisciplinary projects, strong knowledge of Revit/CAD functionalities, Navisworks & CDE platforms, and a passion for improving design efficiency through technology and innovation.
  • Some generic requirements,
  • Ability to independently produce structural drawings and BIM models with minimal supervision & maintain BIM model quality in accordance with:
  • The Project Information Model (PIM)
  • The approved BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
  • Organisational Information Requirements (OIR), Asset Information Requirements (AIR), and ISO 19650 naming conventions.
  • Ability to carry out model checks, coordination reviews, and ensure compliance with Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows.
  • Ability to maintain and manage BIM model quality processes, ensuring compliance with project and organisational standards.
  • Ability to share best practices and technical knowledge with the wider project team.
  • Proven experience in understanding and managing coordination processes with engineers across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, and accurately prepare and maintain Minutes of Meetings (MoM).
  • Ability to mentor and support graduate and junior BIM engineers, contributing to team capability development.
  • Experience in coordinating CAD and BIM model inputs for multi disciplinary projects.
  • Proficiency and strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.

  • Prior involvement in international projects & exposure to various level of details is an advantage
  • Hands on experience on Revit, Rhino & Dynamo will be an advantage.
