Hello, I'm Clement. I'm part of the Transportation team in Hong Kong, focusing on significant highway infrastructure projects. I officially joined AtkinsRéalis in March 2023, but it already feels like home since I interned here in 2022.

A Picture of Clement smiling in a suit.

My internship at AtkinsRéalis

After finishing my master's degree in civil engineering, I started an internship with AtkinsRéalis. I've done a few internships, and compared to them, AtkinsRéalis is much less stressful! Here, we work on a huge variety of interesting and often complex tasks. So, we do work under pressure sometimes. BUT. We always work together to come up with solutions.

During my internship, I got a taste of life at AtkinsRéalis. I gained valuable insights into the workings of the Transportation team. While I started with smaller projects, it gave me a solid foundation and understanding of our culture and processes.

AtkinsRéalis' Hong Kong graduate programme

Now, as a full-time graduate engineer here, I'm responsible for significant highway projects, which allows me to make a bigger contribution. I felt ready and capable when I transitioned from internship to full-time employee. That was made possible with the support and encouragement of my manager and senior colleagues, who greatly encouraged me to take on my current role. I feel really good about this opportunity!

A welcoming and supportive culture

The communication is good here, and we have a pleasant work culture. Our relationships are friendly, and we help each other when facing difficulties or technical problems. I meet colleagues from various teams and develop friendships with them. We chat during activities, not just while working on my own projects. It's great to meet others and learn about their lives and team cultures, which has helped me build good relationships across different departments.

My line managers, seniors, and human resources team have always supported and helped me through tough times. Our Asia Young Professional (AYP) community has also organized meditation and massage spaces in the office.

It feels like my wellbeing is valued.

Last year, I joined the AYP committee

The AYP organizes events for our young colleagues, from office Christmas parties to team-building. As a technical representative, I help coordinate professional activities, including project management courses and site visits, allowing our colleagues to see ongoing projects firsthand. But, I also take on various other responsibilities, such as organizing charity events.

Connecting with AYP peers across the region

Hong Kong was the first office to establish an AYP group. In 2023, we expanded to include Singapore, Korea, and China. This growth has allowed us to collaborate closely across these regions, encouraging interdepartmental connections and emphasizing our commitment to social responsibility and professionalism. The AYP recently organized a trip to Korea where all the different AYP committees in the region came together. Everyone who went said it was a fantastic experience!

So far, working at AtkinsRéalis has been a rewarding experience. I'm making an impact through my work, contributing to the organization, and connecting with talented people.
