What to expect on a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship

Engineering, design, and project management are exciting areas to work in. Whether you work in an engineering, technical, or a non‑engineering role, they are sectors that offer an enormous breadth of opportunity- especially when you're an apprentice at AtkinsRéalis

Our colleagues on Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships use cutting‑edge digital technology to literally change the world for the better; we're shaping smart cities, solving the energy challenges of the future, preserving our natural heritage, and engineering a better future for our planet and its people.

During our apprenticeships, you'll work on projects that will make a difference from your first day.

You might be thinking What is a level 6 degree apprenticeship equivalent to, how does it work? We'll answer that and more if you read on.

What is a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship?

First things first, a Degree Apprenticeship is the highest level of apprenticeship available in the UK. They offer the opportunity to earn a full bachelor's (Level 6), or master's degree (Level 7).

We offer a wide range of apprenticeships from Level 3 right the way through to Level 7 but Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships are where we offer the majority of our opportunities.

Our entry requirements vary depending on the Level and discipline of apprenticeship you're applying for. The job description is always the best place to check the detail of the requirements so you know what's required of you before applying.

Degree Level 6 Apprenticeships are fantastic for immersing yourself in on‑the‑job training while you work toward receiving your qualification.

Training is provided by an apprenticeship provider (typically a university or college). You'll also receive a wide variety of training and support from within AtkinsRéalis as well as mentorship and of course on‑the‑job learning.

You'll also earn a competitive salary. As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are committed to offering the Real Living Wage as a minimum starting salary for our AtkinsRéalis Level 6 (Degree Level) apprentices. This is in recognition of the value apprentices bring to our business, ensuring that whatever route you take to start or develop your career, you can expect a fair salary, with a clear and open pathway to progress. You'll also be supported with dedicated time to study away from the workplace. For some people, the apprenticeship route is more preferable to the university route into a career.

While you spend some dedicated time studying at college or university, most of your time is spent on the job where you gain real‑world experience.

There are a plethora of reasons to choose an apprenticeship with us. We always ensure you've got carved out, dedicated time for your studies and you'll be paired with a mentor and like‑minded peers for support.

If you're wondering How long does a Level 6 Degree apprenticeship take?, it's typically four to six years.
