In developing major infrastructure and housing schemes we investigate, assess and remediate land. Using our blend of digital science and engineering expertise, including geological, hydrogeological, soil health, contaminated land and broad environmental skills, we maintain an award-winning reputation for adaptive, applied and integrated mitigation. We turn industrial legacy land constraints into opportunity, influencing design, minimising engineering requirements while embedding innovation and sustainability at the earliest project stages.

Our heritage team provide expert advice on complex and high profile national and international engineering, infrastructure and architectural design projects. We support clients with heritage planning advice, archaeological mitigation and management strategies, the historic built environment, conservation management planning, heritage placemaking, masterplans, and world heritage sites.

Our Circular Economy and waste specialists advise clients on applying Circular Economy principles to prevent and reduce waste from the outset of a scheme, and undertake waste strategy development and implementation, waste audits, Site Waste Management Plans and waste infrastructure design support to ensure high reuse and recycling levels and diversion of waste from disposal.

Our services include survey and mitigation, reporting, Habitat Regulations Assessment, habitat enhancement and creation, not to mention leading the way in biodiversity net gain and natural capital.

Our services are regularly on the critical path for our clients’ programmes, and we pride ourselves on delivering to challenging timescales while maintaining our reputation for rigorous technical and analytical services. We work on single topic jobs or multidisciplinary projects, delivering specialist services at every stage of the design process, from concept to completion. We work on everything from planning applications for small scale developments through to action plans for areas/authorities and on to nationally significant infrastructure projects. Havant Thicket Reservoir

Our Water, Environment, and Project Delivery teams—along with Design & Advanced Technology and Project and Programme Services—delivered the career-defining Havant Thicket Reservoir project for Portsmouth Water. The reservoir addresses critical regional water resilience needs, enabling a bulk supply of drinking water to Southern Water while protecting valuable chalk stream habitats in the River Test and River Itchen.
