Hello, my name is Yuxiang, I graduated in 2023 from the University of Sheffield with a degree in MEng Civil Engineering. Today, I'm a Graduate Civil Engineer on the Transportation, Highways Infrastructure team at AtkinsRéalis. I manage project delivery for a highways construction and renewal project in the East of England. I'm gaining brilliant experience liaising directly with the client and contractors in this role.

What has been your favorite experience on the program?

One of my career highlights was managing highway asbestos risk using digital tools like QGIS and Civil 3D. These help create detailed maps, analyze geographic data, and model civil infrastructure in 3D to support safer and more efficient project planning.

What is the best thing about working for AtkinsRéalis?

I enjoy having real-world responsibilities working on live projects, providing me an opportunity to contribute to society and make the world a better place to live. I also get the chance to develop my skills and knowledge in a field I enjoy working in, so it is a win-win situation for all parties involved.

How is your professional development going?

AtkinsRéalis offers excellent opportunities to develop my skills through top-notch training and the freedom to work independently on projects, all with the support of great colleagues. My goal is to become chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers. The organization is supporting by helping me build the skills and knowledge I need to achieve this. I'm also gaining key attributes like a firm grasp of engineering principles and commercial abilities through project work.
