Assistant Technical Manager - Civil 3D Highways

Overview

AtkinsRéalis Global Technology Centre (GTC) Canada Business is looking to appoint a number of Highways BIM Designer's to support the delivery of complex civil engineering and multidisciplinary designs across a range of major projects.

This key post will be based out of Bangalore where we have thriving AtkinsRéalis office, which deliver to all AtkinsRéalis regions across the world. Our portfolio of work continues to grow, and we will offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity to apply knowledge, experience, and problem-solving skills.

Your Role

  • Support the technical delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary highway engineering projects, ensuring the successful execution of project objectives.
  • Undertake and review highway designs, including the production of 3D models, drawings, understanding reports, and specifications. Contribute to the development of innovative and practical design solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, and Governance requirements, delivering technically accurate work in accordance with relevant standards, procedures, and project requirements.
  • Lead and oversee design, modelling, and detailing activities, including the development of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and OpenRoads models, and the extraction of model-based information for 2D drawings, schedules, setting-out data, quantity take-offs, and other project deliverables.
  • Support the preparation of construction specifications, technical surveys, and design documentation, as well as tender and contract documents across various forms of procurement and contract arrangements.
  • Perform technical reviews and audits to provide assurance on project deliverables. Conduct self-checks and support independent technical checks of team outputs, ensuring quality control and compliance with company and project standards.
  • Manage highway discipline 3D models, ensuring model quality, technical accuracy, clash detection, and compliance with BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with Information Managers and project teams to develop and implement BIM strategies, BIM Execution Plans, workflows, and processes in line with corporate standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute actively to project design development through multidisciplinary coordination, clash detection workshops, design reviews, and client presentations, supporting effective project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Mentor and support junior team members through technical guidance, on-the-job training, and project supervision, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.

About You

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 12-20 years of experience in the delivery of complex civil engineering projects, preferably within the highways sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing Level 2 BIM methodologies in compliance with ISO 19650 standards.
  • Experience working on Canada / equivalent. -based infrastructure projects will be considered an advantage.
  • Proven experience in developing highway BIM technical solutions in accordance with AASHTO and/or other internationally recognized standards, delivering construction-ready, innovative, and sustainable designs that meet project objectives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of highway design, including geometric design of road links and various junction/interchange types, utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D and InfraWorks.
  • Experience preparing a wide range of engineering documentation, including feasibility studies, specifications, method statements, approval submissions, design reports, schedules, construction drawings, and bills of quantities.
  • Strong project delivery experience, including planning, estimating, budgeting, and monitoring work packages, with a sound understanding of project financial management and change control processes.
  • Advanced to expert-level proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD , Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer, with a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in highway design and BIM delivery.
  • Extensive BIM experience, including advanced knowledge of Civil 3D/OpenRoads Designer interfaces and functionalities for corridor modeling of complex highway junctions and interchanges.
  • Proven ability to create, manage, and customize Civil 3D styles and templates, and to generate alignments, corridors, annotations, reports, schedules, quantity take-offs, and analytical outputs. Experience in producing high-quality drawing deliverables is essential.
  • Highly proficient in information management and standard Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, Power point presentation with a good understanding of IT infrastructure and hardware systems.
  • Professionally accredited as an EngTech or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) recognised by a U.S. or U.K. engineering institution are value added
  • Advanced expertise in Autodesk Navisworks, including BIM model federation, clash detection setup and management, clash testing, search set creation, model interrogation, and navigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage clash resolution workflows, generate and communicate clash reports, perform model reviews, create viewpoints, redline BIM models, and oversee overall Navisworks model management.
  • Experience with computational and generative design tools such as Autodesk Dynamo and/or Bentley Generative Components is a value-added.
  • Strong working knowledge of Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms, including Bentley ProjectWise and Autodesk BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). Experience managing Civil 3D Data Shortcuts within a CDE environment is essential
