Overview

Take the lead in shaping the future as an ambitious fire safety professional to take a leading role in shaping and growing a specialist fire consultancy business across South-West & Wales. As an Associate Director – Building Surveying (Fire Specialist), you will have the platform to influence regional strategy, build and lead a high-performing team, and establish a recognised Centre of Excellence for Fire and Building Safety Consultancy.

Working within a growing and well-established Building Surveying practice, you will combine hands-on technical leadership with business development and client engagement, supporting major clients across healthcare, education, residential, defence, commercial, infrastructure and public sector portfolios.

This role offers the chance to work on complex, high-profile projects while leveraging the support of a wider national fire safety network, providing access to specialist expertise, peer review and knowledge sharing. With strong backing from the business and significant investment in growth, you will play a pivotal role in expanding the regional fire consultancy offering, strengthening strategic client relationships and driving long-term business success.

Your role

  • Lead and grow the fire safety consultancy service across South-West & Wales, acting as the regional technical lead for fire safety, building compliance and remediation projects.
  • Deliver complex fire consultancy commissions and provide expert advice on fire legislation, Building Regulations, passive fire protection, compartmentation and Building Safety Act compliance.
  • Drive business growth by developing client relationships, securing new opportunities, leading bids and tenders, and increasing regional revenue and market presence.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to key clients across healthcare, education, residential, defence, commercial, infrastructure and public sector portfolios.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high-performing team, promoting technical excellence, collaboration and professional development.
  • Oversee project delivery, governance, quality, financial performance and resource management, ensuring safe, efficient and profitable outcomes.
  • Contribute to regional business planning, growth targets and the continued development of a market-leading fire and building safety consultancy offering.

About you

  • Strong fire safety consultancy experience and technical knowledge of fire risk, compliance, Building Regulations and fire safety legislation.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage clients and drive business growth.
  • Leadership, commercial and project management experience.
  • Relevant degree, relevant industry recognised accreditation / chartership such as MRICS/MIFSM/IFE, Level 4 Fire Risk Assessor qualification and a full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Building Safety Act and Principal Designer experience.
  • Fire remediation programme delivery and framework management experience.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH or similar accreditation.
