As our Building Surveying team continues to expand across the Southwest, we are seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Building Surveyor to join our Exeter office. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role within a growing team, working on a diverse portfolio of projects while contributing to the continued growth and success of our regional business.

You'll work alongside experienced Building Surveying, Project Management, Cost Management and multidisciplinary teams, helping clients manage, improve and future-proof their property assets while mentoring the next generation of surveying professionals.

Your role

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will take responsibility for delivering a wide range of professional and project-led building surveying services while supporting business development activities and helping to grow our presence throughout Exeter and the wider Southwest region.

You will be trusted to develop client relationships, lead commissions and provide technical support and leadership to junior colleagues, contributing to a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering a broad range of Building Surveying services across public and private sector clients.

  • Managing projects throughout their full lifecycle from inception through to completion.

  • Undertaking and managing condition surveys and asset assessment programmes.

  • Delivering professional instructions including defect diagnosis, dilapidations, technical due diligence and planned maintenance advice.

  • Acting as Contract Administrator and Employer's'Agent on refurbishment and construction projects.

  • Preparing specifications, schedules of work, reports and technical documentation.

  • Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact.

  • Producing fee proposals, scopes of service and contractual submissions.

  • Supporting business development and contributing to winning new work.

  • Collaborating with colleagues across AtkinsRéalis to provide integrated client solutions.

  • Attending industry, client and networking events to strengthen market presence.

  • Mentoring and developing Assistant and Building Surveyors working within the team.

  • Managing workload, project resources and financial performance.

About you

We're looking for a commercially aware and technically capable Building Surveyor who enjoys working with clients, developing people and helping shape the future direction of our service offering.

  • You will be a confident communicator, able to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues while maintaining the highest professional standards.

  • You'll be motivated by delivering excellent outcomes, finding innovative solutions and contributing to a supportive and high-performing team environment.

  • Essential skills required:

    • MRICS or FRICS qualified.

    • Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related construction discipline.

    • Strong experience delivering Building Surveying consultancy services.

    • Proven ability to manage projects from inception through completion.

    • Experience delivering both project work and survey programmes.

    • Strong technical knowledge across a range of Building Surveying services.

    • Ability to build relationships and engage confidently with clients at all levels.

    • Demonstrable commercial awareness and business development capability.

    • Experience preparing scopes, fee proposals and contractual documentation.

    • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

    • Highly motivated, organised and proactive approach to work.
