Overview
Reporting to the Bid Manager- Engineering and Field Services, the Bid Lead is responsible for preparing proposals on behalf of the Nuclear Canada Business Unit. In this capacity, the Bid Lead is responsible for the proposal development lifecycle; coordinating and producing proposals in response to a client inquiry (Request for Proposals, Expressions of Interest, Tenders, Budgetary Estimates, Qualifications, etc.) while assembling a proposal team with the relevant service, product and business knowledge required to win.
Responsibilities include the implementation of proposal procedures and processes, ensuring complete, accurate and quality proposals are prepared on time and on budget. Further responsibilities include participating in capture planning sessions by contributing relevant industry market knowledge, competitor assessments, commercial strategies, etc.
This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, work under pressure and to meet challenging deadlines.
Your role
- Lead large and complex proposals, coordinating senior leadership, SMEs, commercial, legal, and project teams to produce high‑quality, compliant, and competitive submissions.
- Collaborate proactively with Account Managers to shape strategic bid approaches and ensure persuasive, opportunity‑aligned proposal content.
- Facilitate kickoff meetings, status calls, and cross‑functional coordination throughout the proposal lifecycle.
- Develop proposal outlines and generate key non‑technical content (executive summaries, cover letters), while gathering scope, estimates, and inputs from delivery teams.
- Coordinate pricing activities—building pricing worksheets for smaller bids and supporting pricing roll‑ups for larger proposals.
- Manage the proposal database, conduct proposal reviews/approvals (Pink, Green, Red, Gold), and oversee Purchase Order acceptance for accuracy and alignment.
- Mitigate risks and delays by enforcing timelines, applying style guidelines, and driving consistent quality across all outgoing proposals.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing tools, templates, best practices, and overall efficiency of the proposal development process.

About you
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, supported by a combination of post‑secondary education and practical proposal‑related work.
- APMP Foundation certification preferred, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong knowledge of Nuclear business operations, including processes, procedures, costing models, pricing principles, risk treatment, margins, and cashflow requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent bids under tight deadlines, supported by strong organizational, planning, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, effective proposal content and strong oral communication for interaction with customers and internal teams.
- Familiarity with nuclear projects, engineering terminology, and technical language essential for interpreting RFPs and collaborating with SMEs.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative team‑oriented approach.
- Demonstrates innovation and a proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and contribute to process improvements.
