We have an exciting opportunity for a Cables Package Manager to join the Offshore development team (via secondment into clients office). The Cables Package Manager is responsible for the end‑to‑end management of the export cable system, encompassing both offshore and onshore cable works, from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through EPCI procurement and into delivery support during the EPCI phase.
The role will lead the FEED for the Cables Package, manage the technical inputs to EPCI tendering, and provide strong owner-side package management oversight during detailed design, manufacture, installation, testing, and commissioning.
This role will manage the interface between engineering, commercial, consenting, marine, and construction functions and is critical to the successful delivery of the offshore transmission system.Location: Dublin. Desirable requirement 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.
Your role
Reporting to the Offshore Phase 2 Manager, you will be responsible for a range of tasks including;
FEED Phase
- Lead the FEED development of the offshore and onshore export cable system, including cable routing, landfall, protection systems, jointing, and interfaces with offshore substations and onshore substations.
- Lead early and ongoing engagement with the export cable supply chain, including cable OEMs and installation contractors, to de‑risk design, procurement, and execution.
- Manage the Owner's'Engineer and FEED designer, ensuring delivery of FEED outputs in line with programme, budget, and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain the package scope of work, technical specifications, interface definitions, cost estimates, risk inputs, and schedules.
- Identify and manage key technical, constructability, installation and interface risks, working closely with HSE, marine and consenting leads.
- Own and manage the export cables package pre-EPCI schedule and budget, including cost estimation and programme assurance.
EPCI Phase
- Act as Owner's Package Manager for export cables during detailed design, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Oversee EPCI contractor performance against contractual, technical, quality, programme and HSE requirements.
- Manage interfaces between the cables package and other work packages (offshore substations, onshore works, marine operations, surveys).
- Support resolution of technical issues, non‑conformances, change control, disputes and risk mitigation during delivery.
- Provide package-level inputs to project reporting, schedule updates, risk reviews and governance milestones.
General
- Oversee the full lifecycle of the cable package scope — from FEED through procurement, manufacturing surveillance, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- The Cable Package Manager is ultimately accountable for delivering the package safely, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and technical requirements.
- Coordinate closely with other project packages —offshore substation, onshore works, marine logistics, and commissioning — to resolve technical interfaces, installation sequencing, and system integration issues.
- Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and other external partners to ensure quality and timely delivery of services and materials.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Identity and assess opportunities to improve outcomes working as part of the Project Leadership Team to enhance the project delivery strategy.
- Identify and mitigate technical, commercial, and installation risks across the cable supply chain.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant HSE requirements, marine regulations, environmental constraints, and certification body expectations.
- Drive a strong safety culture across suppliers and site operations.

About you
- Significant knowledge and working relationship with suppliers in the cable manufacture and cable installation supply chain.
- Significant experience managing export cable systems (offshore and/or onshore) for offshore wind or offshore transmission projects.
- Demonstrable experience across FEED and EPCI phases, including procurement and supply chain management.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, accessories, cable burial methods, and cable protection strategies.
- Strong understanding of offshore and onshore cable design, installation methodologies, landfall works, and interface management.
- Ability to review and assure compliance with industry standards, recommended practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams on large, complex infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to track and monitor key tasks and to take responsibility for own deliverables.
- Proven ability to proactively coordinate and manage complex interfaces.
- Comfortable operating within an environment of high uncertainty and rapid change.
- Strong safety leadership skills including identifying and mitigating installation risks, leading HAZIDS and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to offshore projects.
- Demonstrable experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant years of experience in offshore cable design and onshore cable design, cable installation, and project management.
- Chartered in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of offshore engineering principles, industry standards, and regulations.
