Overview

The EDAROTH Commercial Director operates at senior management level within EDAROTH and will report to the Managing Director. The Commercial Director works closely with the Operations Director, Programme Director and Finance Director. They are accountable for the commercial management and financial control of all business activities and, as part of the senior management team, for the overall performance of the business. The role is open across any of our offices in United Kingdom.

Your role

  • Establish and maintain a competent and high-performance team to provide commercial control and oversight.
  • Create and maintain key business relationships (e.g. clients, investors, supply chain, delivery partners, consultants etc.).
  • Strategic and operational commercial leadership across the enterprise and portfolio of projects and opportunities.
  • Ensure robust governance, cost and contract control, and risk management through the full lifecycle of projects.
  • Manage procurement, contract/commercial negotiations and disputes/claims with supply chain and delivery partners.
  • Establish and enforce appropriate commercial policies, processes and reporting.
  • Create and improve competitive pricing models that support bidding/work winning activities and improve profitability.
  • Create revenue growth and enhance profitability in line with business strategy and targets.
  • Lead internal/external governance and maintain internal relationships with AtkinsRéalis senior management.
  • Ensure projects deliver expected margin through disciplined commercial control and delivery.
  • Administer contractual disputes to successful resolution.
  • Ensure the commercial function is in accordance with the business's procedures, and ensure compliance thereto.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to efficiently manage the business, including divisional co-ordination, resource management, budgeting, reporting, etc.
  • Provide other strategic support and execute duties as assigned by the Managing Director.
  • Provide business, financial, commercial and strategic control, and associated reporting to the Managing Director, to ensure EDAROTH meets its business objectives.
  • Instigate and oversee the successful implementation of strategic business initiatives from inception to successful execution, cooperating with the other EDAROTH Directors.
  • Work in compliance with the AtkinsRéalis and EDAROTH BMS.
  • Drive an ethos of collaboration and cooperation within a psychologically safe and inclusive environment.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, including the assessment and implementation of lessons learnt.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Project delivery

  • Oversee commercial management of projects from pre-construction through handover to the agreed margin.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations (e.g. JCT forms) and AtkinsRéalis governance.
  • Manage change control, claims, cross-claims, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Monitor cash flow, payment cycles, and cost-to-complete forecasts – upstream and downstream.
  • Manage and report in both CVR and internal financial (PSR) systems as part of monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting.
  • Maintain risk registers and deliver commercial audits at key milestones.
  • Attend project board meetings, ownership of project dashboard reporting and support PSR submission process.
  • Manage and maintain the supply chain, tendering, negotiation and establishing contracts.

2. Bidding and business development

  • Lead commercial strategy for bids, frameworks, and development agreements.
  • Drive go/no-go decisions and support internal approvals.
  • Develop competitive pricing models and proposals.
  • Engage with clients and partners to maximise procurement opportunities.
  • Engage with and procure key supply chain partners for delivery.
  • Work with internal and external legal to ensure compliance and appropriate risk management of contracts.

3. Commercial oversight and governance

  • Set and enforce commercial policies, processes and reporting.
  • Negotiate terms with clients, contractors, and MMC suppliers to protect margin and mitigate risk.
  • Establish supply chain frameworks and performance metrics.
  • Embed AtkinsRéalis commercial policies and stage-gate approvals.
  • Ensure audit readiness and adherence to ethical, safety, and sustainability standards.

4. Financial reporting

  • Monthly commercial reporting (PSRs, CVRs, accruals, forecasts).
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and alignment with Ecosys and One ERP (Oracle).
  • Present commercial performance to EDAROTH leadership and AtkinsRéalis governance boards as required.

5. Commercial team management

  • Lead, co-ordinate and mentor a high-performing commercial team including delivery and procurement.
  • Support professional development of the team.
  • Drive collaboration across all parts of the business, including internal and external personnel.

  • You must have a proven track record of delivering expected margin on development and construction projects, and administering all associated contract types including development agreements, the JCT suite of contracts and OEM forms of contract.
  • You must provide strategic and operational commercial leadership across EDAROTH's portfolio, ensuring robust governance, cost and contractual control, and risk management throughout the full lifecycle – from bidding and contract negotiation to project- and programme-level delivery and reporting.
  • You must be a strong team player who owns their area of responsibility while supporting other team members to deliver the project and enterprise outcomes set by the business.
