Overview
This role is for an Assistant Structural Engineer within the Building Structures Practice of Global Technology Center, primarily facing UK region. The engineer will assist with the development, coordination, and quality assurance of structural designs across concept, preliminary, and detailed design stages, ensuring compliance with building codes, standards, and project-specific requirements by working closely with senior engineers within the team. The role involves liaising with architectural, MEP and other relevant stakeholders in close consultation with the Senior Engineer to deliver safe, durable, constructible, and technically sound building structural solutions across a variety of building types and project environments.
Your role
- Perform tasks assigned independently with minimum guidance from the senior engineers in the discipline.
- Develop detailed designs from the schematic designs under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Able to develop details/sketches and provide details to CAD technicians with minimum guidance from the seniors in the discipline.
- Competent to check the work of graduates, technicians, and administrative staff.
- Successful in identifying and following through on leads/suggestions associated with additional work prospects on the projects they are involved with.
- Shall ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned tasks within the discipline.
- Responsible for compliance with company's QA/QC procedures and implementation of procedures.
- Keep abreast of latest trends and technologies.
- Able to apply Safe by Design principles and CDM legislations to projects
- Developing relationships with colleagues outside of the business area.
- Contributes to and researches the development of existing and new areas of technology/capabilities to inform business strategy.

About you
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering with a working experience of 2+ years in Design office.
- Bachelor's Degree with a working experience of 4+ years in Design office or if the candidate is competent and able to demonstrate the relevant experience.
- Competent in first principles, structural analysis (BMD, SFD & deflections), & load paths.
- Competent in design of Concrete and Steel structures.
- Working knowledge of international standards like Eurocodes, ACI, AISC is desirable.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit Structure
- Experienced in providing analytical solutions using the structural design software's (Viz. Robot, Tekla Structural Designer, STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAFE etc).
- Good communication and presentation skills. Able to present the design options to the project leads and other stakeholders.
- Ability to make decisions, act on your own initiative
- Graduate member of IStrucE or ICE and working towards chartership is desirable.
