Overview
We are looking for a Hydromorphologist / Geomorphologist to join our team and work at the forefront of helping address the challenges of maintaining, creating or restoring water courses to/in good ecological status, ensuring that their form and function is incorporated into and/or protected from new infrastructure development, as well as restored and recovered from previous interventions that may have physically degraded them, e.g. channelisation, presence of weirs, culverts etc. We are undertaking an increasing number and range of important and exciting projects that involve assessing the current state of water courses and designing and developing methods and proposals for their restoration, maintenance or creation, dependent on the type of project. We are working for a range of clients such as water companies, community groups and other government and private sector entities and authorities. Building on this success, we are growing our team, and this growth could include you. As hydromorphologist, you will have experience of geomorphology or hydromorphology related project tasks in Ireland, the UK, Europe and/or internationally. You will work closely with our technical specialists who are based in our established teams across Ireland, both the Republic and in the North, and in the UK. We have a friendly and approachable team with a strong reputation for delivering excellence with multiple clients.
Your Role
- With a degree in science, engineering or mathematics.
- A post-graduate qualification in hydromorphology or geomorphology, or a related subject, would be desirable.
- You will have hands-on, in-the-field, practical experience of hydromorphological assessment of river channels and water courses.
- You will have experience as a hydromorphologist.
- You will preferably understand fluvial geomorphology / hydromorphology in relation to its role in determining Good Ecological Status/Potential under the Water Framework Directive.
- Your experience will include geomorphology and hydromorphology, for example work on natural flood management, nature restoration, channel creation, maintenance and management.
- You will have experience of delivering parts of, or whole, project tasks, such as data collection, data and information analysis, interpretation and drawing succinct conclusions and recommendations.
- You will have good numerical, analytical, report-writing and presentational skills and an eye for detail.
- You will be highly motivated and proactive and enjoy solving challenging fluvial geomorphological problems within a high achieving team environment.
- You will be able to communicate effectively with your colleagues to support collaborative working.
- You will have valid full, clean, Irish driving license.

About you
- Ability to survey, assess, appraise and report on the state of fluvial geomorphology / hydromorphology in water courses and water bodies.
- Knowledge and understanding of key fluvial geomorphology / hydromorphology issues and their drivers, preferably in an Irish, UK or European context.
- Experience of writing funding proposals, costing consultancy tenders and preparing technical and financial aspects of tenders is desirable.
