Overview
We are seeking an experienced HSE officer to oversee, implement, and continuously improve Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices at our Johor Bahru operations. The successful candidate will act as the authority on HSE compliance, ensuring full adherence to Malaysia's DOSH legal requirements while fostering a strong safety culture across the organization.
Your role
- Lead and manage all HSE policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety and Health) regulations.
- Serve as the site Safety & Health Officer (SHO) and primary point of contact with DOSH and other regulatory bodies.
- Ensure full compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 1994) and all applicable subsidiary regulations.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the HSE Management System, including documentation, records, and reporting.
- Conduct and oversee risk assessments, hazard identification, incident investigations, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Lead internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory visits.
- Plan and deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
- Lead emergency preparedness and response planning, drills, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and submit statutory reports, HSE performance reports, and management reviews.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (management, employees, contractors) and external stakeholders (DOSH, clients, authorities).
- Actively promote a proactive safety culture and provide leadership and mentoring to site HSE teams.

Core Competencies & Skills
- Strong leadership and decision-making ability.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of competence in writing HSE reports, procedures, and statutory documentation.
- Well-versed in hazard analysis, risk assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
Preferred (Added Advantage)
- Experience working in large-scale projects or multinational environments.
- Familiarity with ISO standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Experience managing contractors and multiple stakeholders on-site.
