Overview
We are seeking an experienced Safety Officer (HSE Officer) to oversee and implement health, safety, and environmental practices on building construction projects in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of UAE safety regulations, hands-on construction HSE experience, and proven capability in managing on-site safety activities in compliance with ISO 45001 standards and NEBOSH guidelines. The Safety Officer will support project teams by ensuring a safe working environment, preventing incidents, and enforcing company and regulatory safety policies.
Your role
Site Safety Monitoring
- Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with HSE standards and project safety requirements.
- Monitor high‑risk activities such as working at heights, scaffolding, lifting operations, hot works, Plant & Equipment, Logistics & and traffic management , confined spaces.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and verify adequate safety signage, barricading, and access controls.
Documentation & Compliance
- Assist in developing and implementing the project HSE plan.
- Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, checklists, and registers.
- Support preparation of weekly and monthly HSE reports for internal and client submission.
- Ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi OSHAD requirements and other regional regulations.
Training & Communication
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and refresher sessions for workers and visitors.
- Promote a positive safety culture across multicultural teams.
- Highlight unsafe acts and conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions.
Incident & Emergency Management
- Report incidents, near‑misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Assist in preliminary incident investigations and contribute to root cause analysis.
- Participate in emergency response drills and verify readiness of emergency equipment.

About you
Qualifications & Certifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Occupational Safety (preferred).
- 8 years of experience in HSE roles within building construction projects.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) – Mandatory.
- ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor – Required.
- Additional certifications such as OSHA 30‑hour, First Aid/CPR, Fire Safety are an advantage.
- Strong understanding of UAE and Abu Dhabi HSE regulations (OSHAD, ADQCC).
- Experience in HSE documentation, audits, and compliance monitoring.
- Proficiency in MS Office and digital reporting tools.
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
