As part of AtkinsRéalis' Engineering Services group, the Airports team specializes in providing a full range of planning and engineering services for airport and heliport infrastructure projects to local, national, and international clients.
The Building Structural Team in Toronto is looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our growing team to work on one of the most important Canadian airport projects.
This position is 100% in-office.
Your role
- Provides advice, guidance and subject matter expertise throughout the planning, design, and delivery of the program as it relates to structural design and construction including compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
- Ensures that structural design and construction comply with technical requirements, including design reviews, submittal reviews, and testing.
- Conducting Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) compliance reviews for all proposed renovations, alterations, maintenance work and new construction.
- Providing non-resident engineering expertise through field inspections during various stages of construction.
- Assesses alternative technical proposals submitted by the contractor and provides feedback as to the feasibility of the proposal and alignment to Airport requirements.
- Coordinates the technical elements of the program with respect to civil / structural engineering including establishing targets / goals for the program.
- Coordinates the interface between other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure integration and coordination across programs, facilities, and assets.
- Reviews deliverables submitted by the contractor / designer and confirms compliance to the relevant requirements, codes, and standards.
- Monitors the input of the designer throughout the construction phase (RFIs, shop drawings, material approvals, mock-up approvals, punch list, etc.
- Provides Management level progress reports and briefings with respect to structural design progress, issues, and opportunities.

About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Seven (7) years of previous related experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong experience with structural design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.).
- Experience with assessment of existing structures and major structural retrofit projects using various techniques.
- Demonstrated experience applying all major Canadian structural design codes and standards, including proficient knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and CSA design codes and standards.
- Experience designing and restoring in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
- Knowledge to apply the principles of asset management for structural systems.
- Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills including the ability to facilitate meeting / workshops with large groups of stakeholders.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $90,000 - $120,000 annually (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
