Overview

The BIM Designer/Lead Designer role at AtkinsRéalis GDC Transportation focuses on delivering advanced BIM and CAD designs for major global rail and bridge infrastructure projects. Based in Bangalore or Gurgaon, the position involves creating and managing 3D models, producing detailed 2D drawings, coordinating multidisciplinary BIM workflows, and ensuring compliance with AtkinsRéalis standards and international BIM practices. The role requires strong modelling expertise, understanding of BIM standards, experience with tools like MicroStation, OpenBuildings, ProjectWise/ACC, and the ability to collaborate within large engineering teams. It offers excellent growth opportunities within a world-leading infrastructure consultancy.

Your role

  • Should be able to develop CAD/BIM 3D Models / 2D Drawings to the standards & codes
  • Should be able to produce medium to complex 3D modelling for bridges & Rail structures
  • Competent in producing GA and RC detailing drawings for bridges and Rail structures.
  • Work with the Information Manager and project teams to assist in the development and implementation of BIM strategies, BIM Execution Plans, workflows and processes on projects in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Corporate Standards, Client requirements and industry best practice.
  • Should be able to produce 3D models and extract information directly from models to create 2D drawings, schedules, setting out, quantities and other deliverables.
  • Should be able to develop models and technical content including clash detection and compliance with BEP.
  • Should be able to follow OCRA process in EDMS workflow
  • Should have strong written & verbal communication in English
  • Experience of working in Common Data Environment (CDE) like ProjectWise / ACC
  • Apply AtkinsRéalis Quality, Safety & Environmental (QSE) standards and Business Management System (BMS).

About you

Requirements

  • Must have Civil Engineering background with preferable Rail domain experience.
  • Experience of Bridge Detailing, reinforcement detailing, structural steel detailing and schedules.
  • Hands-on experience of industry standard Rail BIM Platforms such as OpenBuildings Designer, MicroStation Connect (3D).
  • Proven experience of a range of CAD and BIM industry standards including an understanding of UK BIM Level 2 requirements. Understanding of BIM Standards such as BS1192 and PAS1192 Part 2 is also desirable.
  • I-Twin or Bentley Cloud Services with capabilities to federate individual discipline BIM Models. Setup, maintain and run clash rules and clash tests across federated BIM Models
  • Working experience in Revit Structures including 3D RC detailing would be an added advantage

Qualifications and attributes

  • Excellent time management skills.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience of using written and spoken English within a business environment.
  • A Diploma/Degree holder in Civil Engineering with sufficient and relevant experience.
  • Flexible and engaging with resilience, drive and self-motivation
  • Ability to collaborate successfully within a project and team environment but also to work independently and in a client environment
  • Constantly striving towards continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and take ownership of project issues
  • Ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with customers
  • Highly IT literate, excellent command of standard office software, knowledge of IT infrastructure and hardware.
  • Working knowledge of British / American Standards
