AtkinsRealis Building Design Practice are looking for an experienced, motivated Vertical Transportation Project Engineer (VT) / Lifts & Escalators looking to develop their career in a positive environment and join our team where talent is encouraged and growth opportunities unrivalled. This flexible and agile role can be based in one of the GTC Office in Bangalore, India or Cairo, Egypt Offices to suit the successful candidate and presents the opportunity to join an international delivery team and work with designers across the Middle East and internationally through our Global Design Centre.
As our new Senior / Principal Engineer - Lift and Escalator, you will be part of a growing team that provides Vertical Transportation solutions and advice across the AtkinsRéalis business.
The opportunity will require candidates to be able to work part of an international team and independently, under their own initiative in a client-facing role, as well as being involved in the day-to-day design and management of their varied portfolio of projects. It is an exciting opportunity for an experienced design engineer to further develop their career within a leading building design consultancy.
Your role
- Learn and support in Lift Traffic Analysis Calculations.
- Generating technical reports, specifications, lift and escalator manufacturer technical reviews.
- Working with other Discipline Engineers such as Architectural, Structural, PM & MEP
- Attending meetings with clients, project teams, Lift & Escalator suppliers, and other related specialist subcontractors.
- Knowledge of CAD, BIM, RHINO and other design applications would be advantageous.
- Liaise with lift and escalator manufacturers to ensure latest products and sizing is current.
- Work with a team of specialists in the field of lifts and escalators
- Manage your own projects
- Undertake design work from concept through to detailed design ensuring technical excellence, maintaining outstanding levels of client service at all times
- Assist with Quality Assurance audits, both internal and external
- Participate in tendering activities by providing detailed specialist input.
- Ensuring an understanding of project briefs
- Specification and design of people/goods transportation systems including lifts (passenger, goods, fire fighting, evacuation, accessibility), escalators, travelators, moving walkways, hoists installations, etc.
- Carrying out passenger & goods lift traffic analysis flow design calculations on existing, new and temporary installations
- Preparing technical specifications
- Representing Atkins at meetings with clients, contractors and lift suppliers
- Understand wider energy and holistic implications of lifts & escalators technical design on multi-disciplinary project offering
- Report writing, maintaining records and archives to company standards
- Understanding of current technologies
- Desire to understand and implement new and developing technologies and solutions.
To succeed in this role, you must have technical skills and experience with a detailed knowledge of applicable Standards and Regulations. A customer focus to deliver what the client expects plus a bit more when necessary

About you
- Proven Customer Relationship skills and experience, preferably in a Consultancy environment
- To be a qualified Engineer having a proven and demonstrable track record your core discipline and a working knowledge of complimentary disciplines
- Preferably holding a Mechanical Engineering Degree and as a minimum qualification
- You are able to adapt your approach with clients to explain complex technical concepts;
- You demonstrate first rate attention to detail and show pride in the work you produce; You are able to motivate and inspire confidence both in your peers and clients.
