Mechanical Engineer - Retube Installation Tooling

This role is based out of the Candu Energy Inc. home office in Mississauga, Ontario.

Reporting to the Manager of Retube Tooling Installation, the Mechanical Engineer - Retube Installation Tooling would support multiple Refurbishment projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing and/or overseeing the conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing, delivery and execution support of tooling systems.

Your role

  • Perform engineering design, support procurement, and manage manufacturing and testing activities for refurbished and new Retube Installation tools, applying standard engineering methods with limited supervision.
  • Conduct system/equipment design work, tooling development, design modifications, technical analyses, and resolve issues related to design, manufacturing, testing, and installation.
  • Participate in material testing, specification development, process studies, cost estimating, technical reporting, and review of vendor documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Plan and manage workload in alignment with project schedules, scope, quality standards, and cross‑disciplinary considerations within the engineering team.
  • Ensure compliance with Engineering and QA procedures, maintain required qualifications/training, and produce technically accurate deliverables needing only general review.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers, senior engineers, and project teams, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and strong communication in achieving project objectives.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years of practical experience, and PEO Professional Engineer designation or eligibility.
  • Experience supporting complex technical projects, with exposure to Retube installation tooling especially Calandria Tube installation and work in Canadian-licensed nuclear facilities considered assets.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize, multitask, and support service‑oriented project environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, and willingness to travel or work at project sites as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities for collaborating across large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated capability to support parallel engineering tasks and technical project demands with professionalism and accountability.
