Permit Coordinator
Come join us in reshaping the future with AtkinsRéalis. AtkinsRéalis is a global leader in its field and has been chosen to design and build some of the most prestigious projects in the world. We are hiring an Permit Coordinator to join our growing team based in Toronto, Ontario.
The Permit Coordinator will support a transformative transit infrastructure project and will be part of a high-performing project team that is dedicated to delivering this complex undertaking through collaboration and a best-for-project vision.
Your role
Manage construction-related permits, from review through closeout, to ensure compliance with internal policies, site standards, and OHSA regulations.
Monitor permit validity, manage renewals, audit compliance, and verify permit accuracy and approvals.
Lead the development and enhancement of the internal permit system. Identify trends and recommend improvements to permit processes, systems, and training programs.
Develop and deliver permit training for high-risk activities (e.g., WAH, CSE, LOTO, GDP, HWP) in alignment with provincial regulation and site requirements. Maintain training records.
Verify worker competency prior to permit issuance by confirming training, certifications, and authorizations.
Ensure hazards, isolation measures, and emergency procedures are properly identified, documented, and reflected in permit conditions.
Collaborate with supervisors and safety representatives to address hazards, corrective actions, and site-specific risks.
Provide onsite guidance to construction teams on permit requirements and safe work practices.
Conduct field inspections and spot checks to ensure compliance, escalating non-compliance or unsafe conditions as required.
Communicate permit requirements, changes, and expectations to contractors and internal teams. Support stakeholders in understanding permit, training, and competency requirements
Maintain accurate and accessible records for permits, training, audits, and competency verification in accordance with record management standards. (Admin)
Prepare reports and metrics on permit activity and training compliance.
About you
Recent Graduate in the field of Engineering or Environmental or have previous safety experience
Previous field experience in construction industry is considered an asset
Craft Background with Microsoft Suite experience

Expected compensation for this role is between $65,000 - $85,000 annually (only applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
