As a Project Controls Engineer, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team embedded in a major infrastructure or construction programme. Reporting to a Project Controls Manager, you will be supporting the integration of cost, schedule, risk, change and reporting processes to ensure successful project delivery. This is a professional level role; an understanding of the fundamentals of project controls and previous experience working in a PC discipline is essential.
Your role
Performance Management:
- Assist in establishing and managing the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB).
- Implement and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) systems.
- Collate and report KPIs related to time, cost, risk, change, and quality.
Governance & Reporting:
- Contribute to periodic and ad-hoc reporting cycles.
- Ensure accuracy and robustness of monthly project review packs.
- Provide interpretation of project health data to support decision-making.
Change & Risk Management:
- Facilitate change control processes.
- Play a key role in change forums.
- Assist integration of risk assessments into project controls.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Support Project Controls Managers in liaising with senior leadership, clients, and supply chain partners.
- Ensure alignment across planning, cost, and risk functions.
- Support programme management with strategic insights.

- Proven experience in project controls on infrastructure or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of cost, schedule, risk, and change management.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts and UK construction standards.
- Proficiency in project controls software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, cost tools).
- Professional qualifications (e.g., APM, PMI, or similar) are highly desirable.
- Strategic thinker with analytical skills.
- A willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Adaptable to fast-paced and complex project environments.
- Passionate about innovation and continuous improvement.
- Proactive in all aspects of work.
