Project Coordinator - Production/Expeditor

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Overview

Reporting to the production control manager and primarily working within the production control team, this role will be a crucial link between manufacturing shop floor and our internal customers. The role will involve working closely with technical leads, Engineers, planners, and shop floor staff.

Your role

  • Working with technical leads and engineers on awarded projects for following up and documenting the progress of individual tasks.
  • Working with the procurement department to maintain updates on all procurement activities on awarded projects.
  • Working with the planner in executing the planned schedule and notifying potential conflicts or delays in priorities.
  • Maintaining the master database for project progress both in spreadsheet version and on ERP.
  • Develop and apply Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) with task leads for easier tracking and maintaining GANTT charts where necessary.
  • Participate in material requirement planning /implementation team meetings for individual projects.
  • Establish and manage a project performance management system using baseline information from the estimate and using ERP.
  • Work with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes with scheduling.
  • Tracking and preparing daily and weekly updates on active manufacturing projects and providing updates to customer project managers on a timely basis.

About you

  • Diploma in the field of Engineering and/or Technology or Construction Technology or equivalent is an asset.
  • Post-Secondary Certification in Project/ Production & Inventory Management is an asset.
  • 2-3 years of related project/ production scheduling and cost control experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Formal training or experience with project management or project coordination is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Production planning and control methods and familiarity of nuclear industry is ideal.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite, strong user of Microsoft excel is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Primavera (P6) or MS Project is desirable.
  • Proficiency with JobBoss® ERP is highly desirable.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability and well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy and people management skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Expediting emergency work will be required from time to time and work may be outside regular hours.
