Overview
The Road Safety Inspector is responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety procedures at road and highway construction sites. The role ensures compliance with safety regulations, traffic control requirements, and environmental standards while protecting workers, road users, and the surrounding community.
Your role
- Conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with road safety standards and project HSE procedures.
- Inspect traffic diversion setups, temporary road closures, signage, barriers, and detour arrangements.
- Monitor on-site safety practices including PPE usage, equipment operation, and work-zone safety.
- Identify unsafe conditions and issue corrective action reports (CARs) or non‑compliance notices.
- Ensure contractors follow approved Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and Method Statements.
- Verify installation and maintenance of road safety devices (cones, delineators, reflective signs, crash barriers).
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions when required.
- Investigate near‑miss incidents, hazards, and minor accidents and report findings.
- Maintain daily safety logs, checklist reports, and inspection records.
- Coordinate with Road Safety Manager, HSE teams, and contractors on resolving safety issues.

About you
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related field.
- 3–7 years of safety inspection experience in road/highway projects.
- Knowledge of road safety standards (e.g., MUTCD, local traffic safety codes).
- Certification in safety (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is preferred.
- Strong communication, hazard identification, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work on active roadway projects in challenging environments.
