Civil/ Structural Engineer-Hydropower

Gurgaon, Haryana, Haryāna, India

Overview

The role involves leading and performing advanced structural engineering design for hydropower infrastructure, ensuring all work meets contractual obligations and established engineering standards. You will be responsible for the analysis and detailed design of major hydropower components—including dams, spillways, powerhouse complexes, penstocks, and water conveyance systems—using both conventional and advanced finite element and dynamic analysis methods. The position requires preparing technical specifications, bills of quantities, design documentation, and coordinating multidisciplinary design deliverables

Your role

  • Establish design criteria based on contractual requirements and in line with good engineering practices.
  • Analysis and detailed structural design of hydropower project structures including dams, spillways, powerhouse complex, penstock, and water conveyance system.
  • Finite element and dynamic analysis of dams, powerhouse and other hydraulic structures.
  • Design of concrete and steel structures.
  • Prepare technical specifications and estimate bill of quantities.
  • Work with drafting technicians to prepare design drawings including general arrangement, layout, excavation, concrete outline, and detailed reinforcing and miscellaneous metal drawings.
  • Prepare design basis memoranda, technical memoranda, and reports, and coordinate report preparation within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team, coordinating and interfacing with electrical, mechanical and geotechnical disciplines.

About you

  • A Bachelor's'in Civil Engineering and Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 7 to 12 years of experience as a Civil/ Structural Engineer in the hydropower industry.
  • Strong software skills and proficiency in SAP 2000 and STAAD Pro.
  • Knowledge of ANSYS and ABAQUS will be an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of international codes and standards such as USACE, USBR, ACI, ASCE, ICOLD.
  • AutoCAD and drafting software experience. Revit knowledge will be an added advantage.
  • Strong technical capability and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple diverse assignments successfully in a consulting firm environment.
  • Ability to perform as a key member of an inter-disciplinary project team, including supervising and mentoring junior engineers and drafters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
