Overview
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and deliver Transmission network planning studies, with a primary focus on UK transmission network development. The successful candidate will work closely with client network planning team.
Your Role
- In depth knowledge of UK Transmission network, Future year network scenarios, load and generation integration, interconnector operation and reinforcement assessments.
- In depth knowledge and understanding of NESO SQSS standard.
- Advanced expertise in Preparation, modification and validation of DIgSILENT PowerFactory study models using project documents and agreed planning assumptions.
- Good experience in Steady state Load flow and Continency analysis for future years focused on Thermal and Voltage assessments as per SQSS and performing boundary studies.
- Good experience in Short Circuit Studies for future network scenarios using DIgSILENT PowerFactory
- Good experience in RMS modelling and studies in DIgSILENT PowerFactory
- Good experience in System Design Specification (SDS) from preparation to sign off.
- Prepare study reports and other technical documentations
- Good Knowledge of DPL, Python Scripting & Automation
- Coordinate with client network design and modelling teams. Lead and mentor junior engineers.
- Strong conceptualization ability, strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills are a must, including the capability to explain complex technical issues to decision-makers and project teams.
- Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, be willing to travel, and work successfully in a customer focused, project-oriented environment.

About You
- Master'S or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience in transmission system planning studies.
- Prior experience in leading a client facing team
- Advanced expertise with DIgSILENT PowerFactory, including transmission network modelling, Load flow analysis, Contingency analysis, short circuit/fault level studies and RMS studies.
- Experience with UK transmission planning processes and documents, such as ETYS, NOA, Scheme Requirement Forms, System Design Specifications and Project Listing Documents.
- Experience in assessing HVDC links, interconnectors, offshore wind connections, Smart Wires, SVCs & STATCOMs.
- Experience in Python or equivalent automation for model checks, data processing and reporting.
