Team Lead, Railway Infrastructure Specialist

Within AtkinsRéalis' Rail Infrastructure team, our expertise covers all aspects of track design for light rail transit (LRT), passenger rail, and freight networks, including alignments and profiles, track components, material specifications, detailed design, and construction support.

Our global rail experience spans the entire infrastructure lifecycle: design, construction, operations, maintenance, and rehabilitation. We are involved at every stage of projects—from feasibility studies to maintenance—and work on projects of all sizes, ranging from sidings to complete LRT networks.

Reporting to the Assistant Director – Rail Infrastructure – Eastern Canada, the successful candidate will actively contribute to the coordination, development, and smooth operation of the Montreal team, in support of the manager. They will also participate in the delivery of rail projects. The ideal candidate is an engineer based in Quebec with experience in rail design and/or construction, as well as experience in technical leadership and team supervision.

The Montreal Rail Infrastructure team is made up of diverse professionals—engineers, designers, and project managers—collaborating to deliver high-quality, transformative transportation projects. We work in a hybrid model between office and remote work.

Your Role

This position combines technical leadership and team management. Day-to-day responsibilities will focus primarily on engineering and project delivery, with approximately 5% to 10% of time dedicated to resource management and corporate initiatives.

The selected candidate will:

  • Support team management (engagement, supervision, training, career development, collaboration with HR) and contribute to achieving business objectives (financial performance, utilization rates, etc.).
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director and other team leads to optimize the sharing of skills and resources.
  • Be present in the Montreal office at least 3 days per week to promote collaboration, mentorship, and team communication.
  • Perform project management activities, including team coordination, planning, progress tracking, and budget control.
  • Act as a point of contact with clients, partners, and suppliers.
  • Contribute to the development of new service offerings and business opportunities.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for membership.

  • Relevant experience in design, construction, or tendering for rail projects.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a multitasking environment.
