Embarking on a global journey with Sophie Nash

In today's competitive business landscape, women's stories of success and leadership shine brightly, offering inspiration and guidance to others navigating similar paths. Sophie Nash is one such woman, whose remarkable career trajectory spans continents and industries. Her insights into professional growth and leadership are invaluable.

Sophie

A tale of two continents

Sophie's story begins in the picturesque city of Bristol, in the Southwest of England. She studied at the University of Manchester, where she pursued a degree in International Management with American Business Studies. This educational adventure took her across the Atlantic to the University of Washington in Seattle, where she embraced the full American college experience whilst developing her business acumen.

Upon completing her studies, Sophie embarked on her professional journey with AtkinsRéalis. Her current role as a Regional Business Change Manager for the Middle East showcases her ability to adapt and excel in diverse environments. Her background in Management Consulting has allowed her to contribute significantly to projects across the UAE, KSA, and UK, supporting clients on their transformation journeys.

Navigating the career landscape

Sophie's career at AtkinsRéalis spans over six and a half years, marked by notable achievements and experiences. She began her professional journey on the Management Consulting Graduate Programme in the UK, within the Aerospace, Defense, Security, and Technology department. Her early years at the company were characterized by a variety of fascinating projects, including engagements with prestigious clients like Heathrow Airport, the Metropolitan Police, the Ministry of Defense, and Oxford University.

In 2023, Sophie's aspirations to explore new horizons led her to the Middle East, where AtkinsRéalis supported her transfer into the Strategic Advisory team in the United Arab Emirates. Over the past 18 months, she has worked closely with key clients throughout the region, further enhancing her expertise and playing a pivotal role in shaping strategic initiatives.

Fostering a culture of collaboration

Sophie attributes much of her success to the opportunities provided by AtkinsRéalis to support career development, along with a welcoming and inclusive workplace culture. She highlights the people-focused atmosphere, where colleagues are always willing to collaborate and lend a helping hand. This culture of support and camaraderie has been instrumental in her professional growth.

The recent move to a new office in downtown Dubai exemplifies AtkinsRéalis' commitment to creating a positive work environment. The space has been thoughtfully designed to facilitate team collaboration, provide well-being facilities, and promote socialization among colleagues. This upgrade has already made a noticeable difference in the day-to-day work experience for staff in the region.

Personal triumphs and professional growth

One of Sophie's proudest accomplishments during her time at AtkinsRéalis is gaining Chartered Management Consultant status earlier this year. This significant career milestone was made possible through the support and guidance of mentors across the organization. It's a testament to the company's dedication to fostering professional development and recognizing talent.

AtkinsRéalis has consistently supported Sophie's career growth, through training and development during her early days as a graduate on the Junior Consultant Development Programme, to her current role as Business Change Manager for the region. Sophie has embraced every opportunity, consistently broadening her skills and experience.

Cultivating diversity and inclusion

Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is a shared responsibility, and Sophie believes that employees play a vital role in this endeavor. She encourages her colleagues to join and contribute to Employee Resource Groups, such as the regional Women's Professional Network. These groups provide a platform for collaboration, learning, and advocacy for diversity and inclusion.

Working in the Middle East, Sophie has had the privilege of engaging with colleagues from various nationalities and backgrounds. This cultural exchange has been a highlight of her career journey in the Middle East, offering valuable insights and perspectives that enrich her understanding of global dynamics.

Encouraging teamwork across borders

At AtkinsRéalis, collaboration and knowledge-sharing are paramount. Sophie emphasizes the importance of working closely with colleagues both within the region and across the global network. Sharing best practices and connecting with subject matter experts (SMEs) enhances the company's ability to deliver exceptional value to clients, and effective teamwork requires strong leadership qualities, and Sophie identifies vision, communication, and empowerment as key attributes of a good leader. Empowerment fosters growth and development, unlocking the full potential of individuals and teams.

A vision for the future

Looking ahead, Sophie envisions a promising future for AtkinsRéalis in the Middle East. With unprecedented growth opportunities in the region, the company is poised to undertake some of the most exciting and ambitious projects of our time. It's an exhilarating moment to be part of the business, and Sophie is eager to continue contributing to its success.

If you're ready to take your career to new heights, explore the opportunities with AtkinsRéalis.
