Delivering 33 design packages in 3 months: Amol on leading Drainage & Land Development in Pune and shaping global airport projects

Amol Kode joined AtkinsRéalis in December 2024, beginning with drainage design tasks that quickly expanded into larger responsibilities. Today, he leads Drainage & Land Development for the Pune office while collaborating with the Ireland team on multiple Dublin Airport expansion projects, giving him valuable international exposure and leadership experience.

From design support to leadership

His role has evolved from supporting drainage design tasks to leading full design packages, including hydraulic modelling, 3D utilities, and detailed design documentation. His collaboration with the Ireland team on Dublin Airport projects has further broadened his global perspective.

A culture that encourages growth

Amol values the collaborative, open, and growth‑oriented environment at AtkinsRéalis. He explains, “The company encourages people to step up—like my opportunity to lead Drainage & Land Development—and supports global teamwork, which has been especially visible in our ongoing work with the Ireland team.”

Delivering excellence under pressure

One of his proudest achievements has been delivering 33 design packages within just three months. He also completed the full detailed drainage design package for the Cork Airport Blue Carpark, including modelling, schedules, and specifications. The team received excellent client feedback of 4.6 out of 5, reflecting the quality and dedication they bring to every project.

“These accomplishments, combined with my leadership role and involvement in Dublin Airport expansion projects, have been defining highlights of my journey so far,” Amol shares.

Opportunities that shape careers

Amol’s career growth has been fueled by complex global projects and mentorship opportunities. He has reviewed designs, mentored juniors, and collaborated across disciplines. The most significant opportunity has been stepping into the Drainage & Land Development lead role for Pune while contributing to multiple Dublin Airport expansion packages with the Ireland team.

Innovation at the core

AtkinsRéalis fosters innovation through digital tools, collaborative workflows, and cross‑regional teamwork. Digital SPOCs across offices support automation and creative improvements in design processes, helping teams deliver higher quality and on‑time submissions while building a culture of continuous innovation.

Collaboration across borders

Teamwork has been central to Amol’s success. A strong example is the feasibility stage project near the airside of Dublin Airport, where the team is assessing the feasibility of building a new substation. Multiple stakeholders—including electrical, civils, environmental, and airfield teams—are involved. As part of the civils team, Amol works closely with all of them to identify and finalize the most suitable site. Regular meetings with the Dublin Airport Authority ensure smooth coordination and alignment.

Balance and leadership

Clear planning and open communication help Amol maintain work‑life balance. He also credits his leaders for clarity, trust, and strong guidance. “Their support directly contributed to my transition into the Pune Drainage & Land Development lead role,” he notes.

Looking ahead

Amol sees AtkinsRéalis growing further in digital engineering and large‑scale global infrastructure projects such as the Dublin Airport expansion. With expanding responsibilities and increasing cross‑regional collaboration, the company is set for strong global leadership in sustainable design, he says.

From delivering high-impact projects to leading teams, careers like Amol’s begin with the right opportunity. Explore your path with AtkinsRéalis today.
